I hate snakes, that being said I have to move them on a regular basis at work. Even when coiled they're not particularly prone to striking...of course once I grab it with the bite-stick...watch out. It's sickingly fascinating, gets the adrenaline up everytime. Ricky makes me sick with his "I love Snakes." ick!
(j/k Ricky). Seriously though if you leave 'em alone they're gonna pretty much leave you alone. A long enough stick should scare 'em off if you can't possibly get around them.

Last time I came across a rattlesnake, was about two weeks ago at Fontana, I hiked up to the top of the 4x track, there he was, sitting next to the slab. I damn near sat my bike on him before I saw him, literally about 2 in from dropping the bike on him, never rattled, just sat there. I left him be, no worries.
But about 2 months ago, i was riding the wash coming out of AO down into mentone, when I had one strike at me, Again never heard it, I was moving along a little too fast, I just felt something slapp my back, and I stopped to find most of him still twisted in my rear wheel. Its pretty overgrown out there currently, so your basically tromping trough the brush, either way its still fun. |
