So i just switched out my Juicy sevens from my hard tail to my epic. The epic previously had shimano 385 hydraulic discs on it. do i need to change the rotors too? cause now it seems like the juicys are rubbing real bad on the shimano rotors. or do i need to change out the part that connects the actual brake mechanism to the frame of the bike so that i have the shimano one on the juicy and the juicy on the shimano. i duno. what do you think?

you don't have to do anything obviously, but yeah, you should. If you have the rotors the Juicy 7's still available, it'd be best to swap them over as well. That or get some new ones.
as for the 2nd part of the question, are you talking about the caliper mount? that should have transferred over as well, but i'm a little confused about what you're talking about there edit: we're they the same sized rotors for both bikes? |

From what I understand the Rotors should work they all should be about the same width. But the mounts if thats what your talking about should be used, I have been told that that not all of them are the same so it could cause rotors not alighn just right on the caliper.
The rubbing could be that the pistons are not returning all the way in, you may want ot make sure the pistons are pushed in all the way. |

juicy calipers are designed for juicy mounts/adapters. They have different offsets and dimensions to make them work.

both rotors were the same size, 6in. the only difference between them is that the juicys have bigger holes in them to get rid of more heat i assume.
yes i am talking about the break mounts. how do you make sure the piston are returning all the way? just put in those red tab things? also when tightening down the rotors your need a torque wrench right?

but i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say most don't use one, unless they have it available and you don't need the piston/pad to return all the way back, just far enough back to not rub the rotor |

contact point only deals with the lever itself and where you want it to start engaging in relation to the handlebar.
As for pushing the pads out, use a flat head screw driver (or any flat thin enough device, I find myself using a butter knife for some reason) and gently pry both brake pads back towards the piston without scratching up the pad itself too bad. |

Before you do anything else, you NEED to put your Avid mounts on, the shimano mounts will not allow your brakes to work properly. Start there
