Don't the top 4 men go to Hell Ride? Not to say we shouldn't keep voting for Doug, but I don't want people to freak if he is number 2 instead of number 1.

Ride lots and lots more. Have fun while doing it. Alternate pushing hard and taking it easy all in the same day.

I believe that singlespeeding is a help. You are forced to make hard (anaerobic) efforts and to use a variety of muscles. Then you spin fast on the flats.

I used a Polar heart monitor in the past but eventually decided to do what I felt like. An HRM can tell when you should be tired but it can't read your mind.
