Doug should be in the lead... we are in Southern Cali... way bigger population (and riding population) than all those little podunk towns these other yahoos are from. Should be easy.

I agree, Mattie-poo. I think it's all in the presentation and promotion. For instance, the guy in the lead posted a very amusing and clever Youtube video claiming he's riding his bike from Denver, CO. to the Hell Ride. I'm sure he's doing his share of getting the word out (marketing) and self-promoting.

Doug, you need to add some last minute flash to your profile. Something unorthodox and unexpected usually helps. Shock value always grabs peoples attention and that's what you need right now.

Again, if you are a member of another club, forum, group, outdoor club (etc.)- give some thought to spreading the word. Same goes for bike shop owners.

A few minutes ago, I fired off an email to my 20 closest friends in hopes they would vote for DOUG!
I included an overview of the ride, a link to the website as well as a request that they forward my email to their closest friends.

I may have gone a bit overboard.

I spoke with Mark this morning, up here in Downieville. He wants a piece of Doug, that 1.5 million vertical feet claim is eating at him. Gotta get the votes Doug. I told him if he has the Mark Weir Invitational, he can invite whoever he wants to slaughter while racing.

Told him you'd be waiting for him .... at the top! Lot's of ego's and trash talking going on around here before the races. Hot, humid and smoky up here in Downieville.
