I was talking with Steven Jackson the other day about our favorite trails. He mentioned that besides the Fullerton Loop, he likes to hook up with skanks from Roscoes and ride their happy trail. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a friend. Usually on Thursday nights around closing time.

I know this may seem like a cop out, but I like almost anything at either El Moro and Aliso Woods. Holy Jim is great too.
There are lost of nice trails but I like the uphill ones the best Don't know how anyone can actually choose a single trail. The key to riding either of these locations is that I have the opportunity to ride 3-4 times per week in the AM between 7 and 10 so there are few folks out at that hour. This makes ANY trail more fun. I am always torn between climbing Mathis or Cholla but the route I like best is up Mathis, down Stairsteps across Laguna Canyon to Willow, Fenceline , Rattlesnake, I Think I Can back down Willow, up Stairsteps (I walk that one) out Lynx and back to the parking lot. I almost always try to talk someone else into coming along. Crashing is so much more fun with friends ![]()

1. What is your favorite local trail? Marshall Canyon in La Verne.
2. Why do you like this trail? It's got a mixture of lots of things; fireroads, singletracks, forest-like coverage, long climbs, etc. I wish there were more technical stuff but it's always my default trail. 3. What days/times do you normally ride? Weekend warrior only...but I've been known to disappear from work on Fridays from time to time and end up there. 4. Do you ride with friends or just go solo? Mostly alone but getting more and more nervous with the more wildlife I see. |

I would say Noble Canyon, but it's still a long drive for me, so I'm going to go with the "local" aspect and not count it.
1. What is your favorite local trail? Tunnels at LPQ. 2. Why do you like this trail? There is an unbelievable amount of stuff out there--and all of it is super fun. It amazes me sometimes how much stuff is there. You can ride the Tunnels and the Mesa above for hours and not ride the same sections twice. We recently put together a killer loop I don't see myself gettting tired of any time soon. 3. What days/times do you normally ride? Weekdays, weekends, day or night--doesn't matter. 4. Do you ride with friends or just go solo? Both, but I prefer to ride with friends. |

I'd have to say Santiago Truck Trail (we'll have to see what's left when it reopens).
1. It's nice and close so I can ride from home. 2. Great view of the Saddleback Valley. 3. During the week I ride up there all alone. 4. Can be worked into a bunch of longer options (Harding/Joplin, Whiting/Luge, Whiting/Luge/Tijeras Creek). 5. Handles rain really well and usually has a breeze during the summer. 6. Good "go to" route when nothing else sounds good.

Rattle Snake at El Moro
It's a fun single track that turns technical then ends in a good down hill. I'll ride El Moro on Tuesdays with a few friends. |

Manifold (Corona) 2. Why do you like this trail? I made it.... If you don't pay attention you'll die. 3. What days/times do you normally ride? Not much during race season however, as much a I can 4. Do you ride with friends or just go solo? Typically solo. Most of my friends are DH types so the climb takes forever. 5. Can STR peeps PM you to tag along for a ride? Sure. |
