i would vote for no voting on RR's as it seems odd that taking pix of your ride should turn into some sort of contest...but if it motivates more people to go out and take trail pix, i'm for it. In fact, I'll do just that, and post up one of my e-wire night rides.

is it me or is everyone taking this way too serious. sounds like george and bret came up with something fun and gives some add'l peer based props and recognition above the usual 'thanks' to those folks who post up some good stories. vote as u deem fit and if u posted a good report good luck.

Perhaps the RR poll can be based on the RRs that get the most "thanks." Taking that a step further, maybe we can have a post of the week and/or a thread of the week based on the number of thanks. Then I'm sure it'll spawn into photo of the week. Custom bike of the week would likely follow.

Kid A, remember, many people who post RRs are racers...they're competitive. Just like a race, if there is a competition, they want to know the rules and what it takes to win. Besides, if the contest wasn't meant to be competitive, then it shouldn't be a competition. And I can assure you that there will be some who will "work" the system. That's how contests work.

Adding to what I said earlier, I remember a conversation with my Little League coach a long time ago:

Coach: "It's not whether you win or lose, it's only important that you are having fun."

Me: "Then why do we keep score?"

Lee, it's a featured RR, not a winning RR. There's no competition. One RR will be featured for others to see it and enjoy its content. It's not that big of a deal.

seriously, george is TRYING to do something fun and the point of this is to encourage people to post Ride Reports (which many people are doing such a great job of so far!).

lets try not to be so critical of the rules, and just go with it, it is suppose to be fun.

This thread and competition reminds me a lot of an innocent fun water balloon fight amongst kids and someone get sore about being hit in the face and the next thing you know, it's no longer a "fun" event but rather, an all out war. People are so missing the point but what's new!?
