Friends of the Pacific Electric Trail presents our first Poker Ride
Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 8AM. This is a fun ride / tour type event suitable for the whole family with prizes and giveaways. The 26.3 mile route winds through historic Rancho Cucamonga as you pick up the cards to try and make the best poker hand. You'll be able to check out some of the future route of the Pacific Electric Trail as well, since it crosses our route in several spots. Your event entry helps support the non-profit Friends of the Pacific Electric Trail and our efforts toward the completion and enhancement of the 21 mile, 6 city Pacific Electric rail-trail conversion project in the Inland Empire. More info and registration: http://www.pacificelectrictrail.org/poker_ride.cfm or webmaster@pacificelectrictrail.org Thanks! Justin |

Well, I did this ride. Lots of roadies, but a few MTBers there. It was a nice tour of the Rancho Cucamonga area. Not too much climbing at once, though we did ride essentially from Arrow Hwy up to Banyan. Total mileage 27+ but I have no idea what the elevation gain was.
The best thing? I didn't come in last. ![]() Got some swag, a t-shirt, water bottle, a couple Chik-Fil-A sandwiches, gratis. Hope they get this trail done soon so I can take my family on it. Y'know, bike riding is fun, no matter what. 'Course, those roadies were going to whoop my ass if they opened it up but I hung with them. Several commented on my knobbies and how much resistance that made on the road and I just grinned, told them it was good training.

Hey, thanks for coming out. Hope you had a good time.
I know the winner of the youth category was quite pleased with their new Trek bike! Thanks to all the participants, volunteers, and in particular the generous vendors who donated their time and product. |
