Damn, pet peeve #3 or higher: theft. I'm so sorry to hear this happened. It's really sad that you have to keep an eye on your stuff every minute, especially behind locked gates. Like you said, lets hope the PO works it's magic and they get crotch rot to boot!

Oh Lynn, what a huge bummer. Thank god they didn't take the bike. Why does this stuff seem to happen to the nicest people. You didn't deserve this.

Default Lesson number two:

Renter's insurance is relatively inexpensive. If you have an expensive bike make sure your deductible is low enough to help you re-coup some of your loss. I will be lowering my $1000 deductible.

I've always loved going to the bike shop but today's trip lacked the "fun" factor as I walked the aisles I realized how many additional things were in my pack, my favorite cap, my hand pump, my head lamp, extra brake pads, spare derailleur hanger...I'm sure I'll discover more...

As luck would have it, I had taken my swiss army knife out of my pack it has great sentimental value I got it in Switzerland years ago so I'm so happy I didn't loose it!

The other good news, I DID get a big discount at the shop today.

Santa Monica's getting pretty tough lately

I am starting to wonder if I should be concerned about keeping my bikes in my pad-locked garage...

my grandparents make me put them in our tough shed and we lock it.

is there a man you can kick out to make room for your bike? Just Kidding of Course.
I think its a Shame that the world has gotten to the point where you have to lock things in your own house so they dont get stolen

Yes indeed there have been a few silver linings in this whole experience.

Afterall when it comes down to it, I try to remind myself it is just "stuff"!

Thank you so much to everyone who has offered me their condolences and replacements I so appreciate it. Looks like I'll have most everything covered.

See you all out there soon.

Happy Trails!

Lynn
