+1 on the hot ass LPQ today. JimmyJ and I started it from sabre springs at about 915. Road out to the main entrance to LPQ from there, up power lines, did one tunnel session from the black horse, then road up on the mesa to a steep & quick down into a tunnel entrance I have not been before. After that we went out and down the sh*ts and up to where the construction started. I have to say that was a really sad site for me since I have not been to LPQ in over 6 weeks. Anyways after that depressing sight we rode down and back out to sabre springs which was at that point very very hot. Drank the whole 100 ml from my camelback, had a recovery drink, + another water bottle right after. Still didn't pee for like an hour after all of that! I am staying out of the heat all together tomorrow.
Good luck to those headed to noble tomorrow morning. Hope they start early! |

Well up north here we were treated to some excellent temps. We did Chilao/Vetter and it was around 80 something. very nice conditions.

hey foo, I was out there this morning too-plan was to climb up Willow, down Old Emerald, climb out, then go over and down T&A. I started climbing up willow at 8:15 and it was already hot. At the top of Willow I had to stop & rest a long time, almost felt like heat exhaustion, but not quite. Some days I can handle the heat just fine, and some days (like today) I can't. Depends how much sleep I get the night before I think. (I cant sleep on the hot nights). I ate a Promax bar & felt a little better. anyway i decided to not do Emerald Canyon, just did T&A and back to the car. Wierd thing is I rode Friday afternoon in Aliso, about the same temp and I was fine that day.
Were you riding the SS today?

It is Cedar Creek Falls. We decided to explore an area we came close to on the Julian Death March. It is just outside of Julian off of Eagle Peak Road. We parked at the saddle and rode down to the falls. We saw lots of burrowing bees along the way and there were loads of wild flowers. There is a fork in the road at about mile 2 which leads off to the east. We took that fork which took us to the secret pools with the vanishing edge above the falls. After hanging out there ,we rode down to the base of the falls.
The place is amazing. It was our first time to the falls. It has about a 70 to 100 foot drop from the edge of the pool we are in. The bottom pool has a picture perfect amphitheater. It is about a 4 mile climb back up to the saddle. Next time we will start in Ramona at the San Diego Estates and ride all the way to top of Boulder Creek via fire road and single track. That way we can hit the Three Sisters falls as well. Then, its all down hill back to the Cedar Creek Falls where we will stop off for a well-deserved swim. It is in the book "Afoot and Afield in San Diego County" by Jerry Schad. It would be a great hike. We met some people who were camping there as well. |

I just got home from racing the Redline Cup Qualifier at the Orange Y BMX track. Practice was from 12:00 - 2:00, then racing began after that. The whole time I was wearing moto pants and a long sleeve jersey. When riding, I was also wearing a full face helmet. And even though it was probably 95 degrees or so, I'm glad to say it was actually tolerable. We had an EZ Up to sit under and I drank a ton of water.
