I'll bet my commute is less than a mile - I think I can stretch to riding in on that day. Jsut got to sneak the bike into the office without the HR police spotting me!

Jefferson to Overland. There really isn't any other way We could make it more complicated, but I've ridden on Murrieta Hot Springs and have no desire to do that again. Same with Ynez. Too many driveways. Jefferson is similar, but a bit less traffic on the way home. The stop lights can be infuriating, though

It'd be nice if Diaz went through, but it doesn't. They could easily put some paths by all the creek's they have, but there aren't any from Murrieta to Temecula. There is a paved path that starts/ends off of Nicholas and heads over to by the Carl's/library/Taco Bell at Winchester/Ynez.

Knock on wood, but we have been pretty lucky. It's fairly short, and there is *very* little traffic in the morning.

Afternoons you just gotta be patient and pay attention!

I ride to school every day as it is. I even just bought a trailer so I don't have to drive to the grovery store any more. Sticking it to the gas companies is turning into a life pursuit.

Default try it

Been biking to work every day for a year...as of today.
I can't say enough about how great it is. Puts me in a good mood every day, especially slaloming through the gridlock. I even think about moving my office further away for a longer ride, although the short commute is great for rain/hungover/sick/post crash/emergency at home moments.

No directions but I grew up right there. Only a few houses away from that intersection. Loma Verde grad!!

I have too much gear to carry so Bike to Work day wouldn't be feasible for me.

I've seen the traffic in your area when I visit my mother. She lives off Cal Oaks and Jackson,by the golf course.Sure has changed in the last 10-12 years.Last I heard the nickname for Temecula now is"Trafficula". Ride carefully -Lloyd

Seriously. I lived here (as a kid) in 86. When we moved across town we got stuck behind a tractor (true story).

I believe you.An old buddy of mine moved to Fallbrook in '68,and when I'd visit them,I'd take 395 South(No 15 or 215 yet) to get there.Temecula and Murrieta were still horse ranches. In the late '70s,after I got out of the army,we used to meet in Old Town, and go hunting or shooting just south of there in the hills above Temecula or up on the plateau. We'd then come back into town for lunch and a six pack and go and drink them in an oak grove next to the 15/215 interchange....almost where my mother lives now.My folks moved there in '94 and when I helped them move there, the only place I remembered was the old Bianchi Leather factory(which I think is gone now),and old town. How times change.- Lloyd

When I was a kid my Friends grand parents lived in Temucula off of I think Rainbow canyon road. We went there for summer vacation in like 1988 and I remember when we went to "town" it was like 20 minutes away.It was my first time ever to California. Temecula is not even close to what is was from what I remember.

That area used to be called Rainbow Oaks and the town you went to sounds like Temecula. In the '60s those towns,(Temecula,Murrieta,Corona,Norco),still looked like something from the western days, mostly horse ranches.Norco I understand, still has hitching posts outside of buildings in their buisiness district.- Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd, cool info. I know it was a whole new world (California)coming from Washington, where there was a lot of farm land/small towns.

I thought about it, but I'd have to ride through National City. Um, no. However, if anyone can suggest a decent way to get from UTC/La Jolla to Chula Vista (East Orange/Hilltop), then I might consider it.
From Mission Bay you go south on Pacific Hwy if bikes are allowed, once you reach Downtown it changes name to Harbor Dr., keep going on Harbor Dr. wish is not the best street because potholes but otherwise is ok, not a whole lot of traffic, after Nassco you make a right on Cleveland Ave., at the end you'll see a bike path that takes you over the Sweetwater river to Chula Vista's Bay Blvd, you can go all the way "L" st to Hilltop.
I see a some commuters between National City and C.V. all the time, it will be a looong one but piece of cake for you.

Buy a super-cheap trailer from Nashbar. I did so I can haul all my lifeguard gear to and from work. Just a thought.

I made a commute most of the way for around 6 months last year. I just stopped at the ferry on broadway.

Just take the rose canyon bike path to santa fe then take some street through mission bay then hit up PCH off of mission bay. take pch to harbor then fight downtown traffic till you get where you need to go.

I'm soon going to be making a commute form La Mesa to the ferry.

Mission gorge to friars to pch and I'm there about 16 miles later...

here is a link to some great maps that can help you commute in San Diego
