Dirty Stinky PATH Love

So, I was Riding Home This Morning.....Maxwell Orange County Register
So, last week I started commuting to work again after about a two year laps.
On my ride home this morning a roadie pull's up along side of me and tell's me that he can't believe that I'm moving this fast on a mountain bike! I said that it really isn't a mountain bike, that it's more of a road bike, with mountain bike bars. As we road, he introduced himself as Dave Whitting from the OC Register.  http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister.../davidwhiting/He does the "Outdoors" collum every Thursday. He said he was doing an article on commuting, since it's National Ride Your Bike To Work Week. He asked me a few questions, road up ahead and stopped to get a picture of me riding, asked some more questions, exchanged contact info, and pedaled on. It was funny, because just after we took off riding again, I got a FLAT!   So, the article should be in this Thursday's OC Reg.

Nice...rolling big up against the roadies. You most def gonna be a celeb in the OC paper. i can see it now. name change from Crash maxwell to "can't pass" maxwell
Hope you told Whiting to do more writing about how mtn bikers do so much for local trails (repair) and surpisingly their iron horses don't leave sh!t all over the trails.  so what's dave's username gonna be on str

Hey Maxwell, that is freakin sweet!! I really enjoy his articles in OC Outdoors when I back in CA!!
Also your featured doing a good cause of commuting by bike!! Good job!

That's a very cool little article -- exactly what I was expecting (and cool pics to boot!). I missed out on bike to work week last year because of that damned m'cycle that took me down, and now this year because of a broken wrist. Maybe next year (he says, hopefully...)?

That was pretty cool.
Just not the flat part.I've been wanting to commute by bike for a few weeks now. The distance of 27 miles doesn't worry me as much as passing some rough neighborhoods. Any bikeshops sell bulletproof armor? And my start time is 5 a.m., so I guess I've got to hit the road at 3:30. V |
