I was thinking about that as well. I have to take my wife to the airport in the late morning and haven't figured anything out beyond that.

I will work on the support at the first station at the bottom of Motorway on Maple Spring.

Looking forward to see you guys. Good luck to the riders.

I got an email from Chris last night and the trail are in good shape. There was 1 or 2 small patches of mud only.

I recommend highly to bring some chain lube and a brush. nothing worst than having chain suck in such a ride

Where is the finish line at? I wouldn't mind driving out to show some support as well. I was thinking of getting there super early, but that might be a "no-go", cause its just too early. Lance, shoot me a PM with your digits and we can try to coordinate. I think Gonzo wanted to come with me too.

The finish line is at the intersection of Live Oak and Trabucco Canyon. Basically as soon as you pull off Live Oak into the dirt parking lot/fire road.....that is where the finish will be.

As for the finish being too early, the fast riders who will be leaving at 6am will not cross the finish until 11:30am at the earliest. I think the record time for the the VQ was 5:20 but that was with dry conditions and not counting the 4 mile road ride out.

Thanks mtnbikej. I'm wondering if I should drive up to 4-Corners, might be a cool place to hang out and watch the riders.

4 corners would be a great ilocation to check out before a lot of the riders start finishing. anyway to know if the gate will be open other than by driving to it?

Excellent call, Bret. We tossed that idea around some time ago, but nothing came of it. If you plan to go, shoot me a PM with your # and we'll coordinate something.

I've got 2 quarts of oil, a box of tacks, a pellet gun and stop sticks, btw. I do believe an STR'er will finish first this year!

Gate should be open, as our fisrt aid station is at the bottom of the Motorway.

If you do plan to up to 4 Corners, please do so before the riders start heading up. Last thing I want is to get splashed with mud as a car goes by.

And.....it is gonna be cold up there......
