Exclamation Meadows Helicopter Rescue - Aliso Woods

This was the MTB accident that many were asking about. As it turned out a personal friend of mine who is a professional photographer from San Juan was biking with the group and shot this incredible video. After watching this, I have only the highest degree of respect and dedication to the rescue team.
This could have been any one of us being air lifted out of Aliso Woods. It's nice to know that such professionals are out there working:

I have never seen a biker injured riding down Meadows. There are a lot of spots where you can just roll off and not get hurt. What happened? Was she holding the camera while riding?

That's a great video but I wish they would tell if the poor woman was ok and what injuries she sustained. I guess in the big scheme it doesn't matter what she hurt but I felt so bad for her.

Wow, and to think I was going faster on Sat and I would have been going even faster if I had not been behind someone else. Hopefully it was nothing serious and that she is ok now. Thats has to be scary as hell being lifted up though.

I feel really bad for her but to me it looks like they were in over their head on Meadows. Meaning no disrespect, looks like they should have been riding Wood Canyon only.

My wife said they looked awkward on bikes. I was thinking the same thing.

The lift up to the helicopter looked scary. I hate heights so much, I think I would have passed out just from the airlift. But then those strapping firemen might have had to give me CPR... oh sorry, I digress.

Keep us updated on her recovery! Hope it wasn't anything too serious.

ok, there is a certain point where you need to take it easy and maybe meadows is a little too much. I hate seeing people hurt. I hope she's doing ok.

Wow scary stuff. If I wasn't unconscious already, I would definitely pass out on the way up to the 'copter.

I hope that woman ended up ok. Looked like she had good motor control of her extremities from the beginning, so that's good.

Kudos to the EMT/rescue team(s), those guys do a great job!

Personally, I think that Meadows is a lot more fun riding up

Hope she heals soon and is not put off riding her bike again.

Pretty sure this happened about 3 weeks ago. It was a Saturday morning & approached the first long straight of meadows and there she was-flat out. They were still calling 911. Can't figure out what happened since it was at a smooth, flat part of the trail.

Two weeks ago one of our guys ate it at Sierra peak and was airlifted - a pretty impressive operation to see up close, those guys are a sight for sore eyes when your 10 miles out and helpless.

BTW: I understand you can actually buy Search & Rescue insurance that's surprisingly cheap. It covers you for any costs associated with getting in and out of a wilderness area including manpower, helivac, etc. Might be a good idea for most of us on this site who like pushing the envelope on an epic backcountry ride
