Pretty sure pre-production models usually are. They typically try out different frame materials, and since they aren't gonna be in production can get away with lighter stuff and less material in areas.

I haven't seen/read about too many builds, but I don't think 25lbs is out of the question, is it?

I know pre-production was around 23.5lbs or so. So, I'd imagine even under 25lbs would be possible if you are trying.

no the frame weights were supposed to be under 6lb for a medium and they're more like 6.25-6.3lb now.. they were supposed to be race only frames but now its only like 0.5 lb lighter than a rip9. full xtr builds are coming in around 26-26.5 lb

Dang that means I'm not losing anything with the Canzo then! Not sure how far off the geo is, though. But I think my Med is around 6.2lbs as well. I haven't weighed it since I got the med, but it's probably around 27lbs. Mebbe I'll weigh it tonight and see.

BTW, Brian, are these part of the 29er sale this month??

Yup
it looked pretty good when it was cleaning the toughest SS climb on our training loop (one that's hit or miss making due to both steepness and traction). And it also looked pretty fun on the downs too

3 times in a row? OK well then I take back what I said.

Besides, the chainstays on the Jet 9 are a full half inch shorter than the Sultan. You could start wheelie dropping all the rocks on SJT.
