Default Garmin 305/ geoladders

Say, I posted a ride from my garmin on Sat.pm to my computer and then posted it on Geo ladders...The info on geo ladders was somewhat different than what my info said on my computer. The elevation gain was several hundered ft less and the riding time was not posted...only the total time on the course not my actual riding time. Can someone help me out. Am I not programing my garmin correctly??? Winston WinstonRE@aol.com

I just started posting my rides on Geoladders too. Same thing happened to me. I was able edit some of the fields manually on the Geoladders site, but some of it couldn't be changed.

Before posting your ride or opening GeoAgent, hook up the Garmin to your training software so you can get the totals on ride time, calories, and HRM.
I've noticed differences from my data to theirs too.
Someone on the Geoladders Glog will have an explanation for the differences in distance, elevation, average speed, ect...

Different programs: Training Center, GeoAgent, MotionBased have different formulas for calculating elevation, calories, etc... so your stats may vary from program to program.

Sometimes more, sometimes less but usually in the ballpark.

It's common for software to differ on altitude gain and distance. (search for other threads). Some difference might be due to the Garmin accumulating data (continuously {at least every second}) as it runs but leaving software with only a set of widely separated points in the GPS file for calculations.

Topofusion will compute altitude gain for you in a multitude of ways. Interesting to look at.

Just sitting still a GPS can show a net gain or loss of altitude due to noise in the signal. The 305 has a barometer to help but that can be affected by weather. Here's an altitude profile of when I repeated a crit course. Each major bump is one loop. The 305 would have you believe California is sinking into the ocean. (Must have been a low pressure weather front passing through)

I've been known to gain around 150ft of elevation just sitting on my trainer

Not much you can do about the computed info. I've read before that the geoladders stats are probably closer to true than the Training Center info (seems to provide much more climbing feet). My actual unit and the software typically differ, as does what comes up on geoladders.

I also edit the fields (time, HR, etc.) as necessary. No big deal.

I have tried adjusting the geo info...the only one I have had any luck with is the time...am I doing something wrong...the other fields such as distance (which was close) and the others seems not to allow it to be changed?

You can't change distance or climbing feet, or the points awarded.

Distance honestly shouldn't be any different between what your unit says, Training Center, and GeoLadders. I've had vast discrepancies on ascent, but never on distance itself.

Correct. You can't change it. Why trust one source more than another anyway?
