Talking Thank you to the honest people in the world

Not sure where to post this just wanted to share some good with the world. My MTB is in the shop so I took my road bike out today for a nice ride to the Orange circle for some dinner. When I got to the restaurant I realized I left the pocket of my pack open and my wallet fell out. I traced the route twice and did not find it. Went home canceled all my cards and kicked myself for being a fool I headed out to pick up my birth certificate when I arrived home I found a note from Orange PD someone turned in my wallet. They tried to bring it to me but missed me so I can pick it up tomorrow at the station. So to all in this world that do the right thing I say Thank You.

This is a relief. This should be the norm in society, as we all have had times where we wish someone would act in a civilized manner. Today, you experienced what should be 'the norm'.

The fact that this needs to be a posting about someone doing the right thing, is sad, but thankfully, still existent.

Glad you got your wallet back!

Not to sound preachy. So....

good stuff- glad it worked out and someone stepped up with some common decency.

last year both my wife and I (on seperate occasssions) both had experienced wallet lost and/or credit cards stolen. it sux so much.

sounds like u went through the hassle of cancelling everything but at least have the piece of mind no one has your license, (name address) using your cc's, etc.

again glad it worked out!

I was about 10 when my sister found a wallet at the store. My dad looked in the phone book and we drove to the guy's house. They had 4 kids, an old beat up car in front of a very small house. I was in the car when my dad went to the door, but I still remember the relief on the man's face, he had all his pay in his wallet. I saw the man pull out a $20 but my dad refused any reward. I was very proud of my dad.

30 years later, I still talk about it and I told my kids about it.

Just to let you know, the credit card companies will put a temporary freeze on your credit cards, rather than canceling them, if you ask. I've used that feature a few times since I have the habit of losing my cards in my house.

Great story. You know, if everybody just treated everybody else how they would want to be treated themselves, the world would be a much better place.

Thanks for the story. It's good to see demonstrations of honesty in the world. I've -somehow- never lost a wallet, but have had the experience of returning the lost wallets of others on a number of occasions. It's a good feeling. If everyone would try to do a good deed for someone else and expect nothing in return (or recognition for their act), the world would be a better place.

Rutabegorz... is it still in 'old town' Tustin? Down the street from The Path? That place ROCKS!

Glad to hear about honesty in people. We'd all be better off if more people had the same attitude as the one who turned in your wallet. This is the 2nd 'bike kharma' thread in two days....must be a good week!
