Default how many spare tires do you have ready to go?

currently i have no spare tires at the moment, cause i have been trying out different types and got ride of the tires i didnt' like. anyways, just wanted to ask generally...

do you keep spares? or buy when needed?

i picked up my tires for about 20 each, which i think is great for what i got, was thinking about getting a spare to keep since they are on closeout, and i am sure it won't hurt, and if i like the tire, i would like to keep one extra before they sell out. right now i like my continental diesel tire, but they are gone already. so i am passively looking for a replacement tire and might choose to buy 2 this time around so i have a spare front, and might do the same with the rears.

but wanted to get an idea on how many you guys keep... i know that keeping mutiple bikes are like having spare tires... so if the mainreason why you don't keep spare tires is because you have spare bikes, then please do mention...

i am sure the racers will have many... so here is my first poll...

I keep one. If I manage to shred two tires in one ride, I will probably be in a cast.

Where's the poll?

Justin just gave away like 3 26" tires, but we still have a ton. Our riding has changed in the past 6-12 months. We don't have many DH tires, and the light XC tires are all on the bikes

I've never had spare tires but last year i picked up two for my hardtail and this year I think I'll buy two spares for my new bike.

I dont think i've ever replaced a tire on a bike in my life....

yea, i have not rode enough to replace a tire... when i rode road bikes before when i was younger, i mostly did triathalons, so i didn't ride much... my main excersize came from swimming, so i never spin outside of ridign to school or getting something to eat or racing...

I'm not a big tire changer guy. I like to find a tire that does a lot of things pretty well and stick with it. I run Stan's setup too and it makes it a little bit of a paint to change.

A pair of Weirwolfs on my bike, and a new pair of Schwalbes for D-ville. Three extra tubes, though.

Well all our bikes are in the living room so you hardly notice the smell of the tires over the grease and oil.

I am still trying to convince the Mrs they would look good, the bikes, hanging on the walls with mountains painted in the back ground.

I have 13 tires around my house now, better than it was. My porch was looking like a used tire recycler.

I try to only buy tires when I see a good sale price for the tires I like. Therefore, I like to keep 2 or three spares so I am not stuck needing to by when there is not a sale. I don't like to stock up too much because the rubber degrades if stored in the garage too long. You can't see the degradation but the tread becomes less pliable which decreases traction. I suppose if you had a durometer you could measure the change over time.
