I've got four mtb tires, about 12 tubes mtb tubes, then maybe 3 or 4 road bike spares and 5 or 6 mtb tubes.... I swear they just multiply.

I guess my mistake is that i'll usually pick two tubes up when I use one, most of the mtb tires are ones I used a bit and then traded out, but I keep them around just in case.

Ditto that one. I have about a dozen 26er and at least 8 29er tires laying around.

wow... i guess it isn't a bad idea to just pick up 1 or 2 during a good sale if you know the tire is good... i am so sad that i didn't buy another of my continental diesel's... they were so good on my rides, but today i wanted to order another and they were out.

so many people with 8 or more tires... sorry i didn't think to put that choice...

edit: wow, i was looking for what "resolution" tires were... and this is what popped up on google...

so funny, anyways, the resolution tires you are talking about are from specialized right? are they good or bad?

Reso is great, except for the fact that the Big S, in their infinite wisdom, discontinued the 29er altogether and the 26er only comes in a hard compound wire bead tire for 08. Find an 07 on eBay or on the shelf at the LBS.

The problem I have with having too many extra parts (tires included) is that they always end up getting put together.

That reminds me... that stripped frame is calling out to me from the garage: "If you build me, we can ride".

Have two, 1 Kenda Nev 2.1 UST and 1 Kenda Blue 2.35 Stick E. Also have a spare bike incase the main one goes in for repair. Plus 4 turbo tubes in the tool chest and 2 in the MULE at all times.

Thought I had allot till I read this thread.

I'm a bit of a tire freak and am always seeking out tubeless tire deals on ebay. I have several brands I like and if one is available at a price too good to turn down I add it to my stash. I would say mountain bike tires are about as close as I'll ever admit to having some sort of exotic fetish

I often have a specific preference for one brand of tire on the front in combination with a different one on the back and this is partly why I keep a few extra spares

I probably have about 12 tires, some semi used and brand new, never mounted. When I like a tire, I buy when I see it on sale. BTW, I added the more than 8 option to the poll.

I don't generally keep direct replacement spares - I have options. I change the tires to suit the ride I'm doing (traction for a given terrain, speed, weight, volume, etc). I generally don't see a need to have another of the same tire.

4 tubes (2*26 and 2*29)
4 tires (2*26 and 2*29)
so basically all of it is installed on both bikes.

Be careful with that. I did that one time with some tires that I really liked - I bought a bunch of them. Then I tried out a different tire that I liked better in every way. Then I was stuck with a bunch of tires that I used to like but no longer like as much as what I had on the bike. And when the "new" ones on the bike wore out, do you think I'd use the tires I now didn't like as much? I had those "sale" tires sitting around for a few years.

bunch? i was thinking more like 1 extra? i think with my riding style and frequency, i am hoping my tires will last a year?

i think i was reading tires usually last about 600 miles? i think that is the low estimate? so i am thinking 1 year is enough time to get through to the next set of closeout tires?

I have a fair assortment in the garage, I have what I consider a back up set already installed on some backup wheels. Then I have another half dozen or so assorted tires in various stages of life.

I don't even want to go there lets just say way more than 8.

I think when you have many bikes and each one uses a different tire for different types of riding you need to have them ready. Many of my tires are brand new.

If I had only one bike. I would have a set of some semi DH tires and some great XC tires and change them for the type of riding I was doing that day.

I can CHANGE a tire, I just never had the CHANGE a tire.

I don't remember ever having to do it. I took a tire off a few days ago off my old bike. My ex-wife got funky with the scissors before I could move my bike and the tire was flat but a quick tube change was all that was in order.

hahahahaha

but yea, i'm serious... dont think ive ever had to change on from being worn out, torn, etc...

Now that I'm going to be riding more I assume things are going to happen so i'll have a spare or two laying around.
