Yeah, you're right. The current set up is a much better deal for the mods. What was this post about? Oh yeah.

I used to be a mod on a site 5X bigger then this one so I do have an idea what it's like. If a mod has to edit everyones forsale ad for a price change or what not it would suck big time. Bret won't be riding as much with all that extra moderation to do.

hmmm... the irony. At some point they will turn upon themselves and the meek will inherit the earth (or website).

This is really turning out to be a good show, although I'm guessing that it doesn't end well . I just can't stop watching though.

Does anyone know someone starting a new mtb board? Now would be the time!

It looks like I'm going to Ebay.
I spent the better part of my weekend cooped up, working on updating our software, then doing damage control yesterday when there were technical difficulties. Missed going out to movies on saturday, missed a BBQ yesterday, and didn't get to ride at all. And this is what you think of it? If you hate me and STR so much why are you still posting (serious question). You're seriously causing more harm than good at this point.

And btw . . . the marketplace will get archived pretty soon and replaced by classified software (think MTBR but latest version of that software). It's already paid for and installed, just have to customize, etc.

Actually, you're wrong. I know Socalmtb very well and was one of the original posters on it. In addition, I got to personally get to know Steve (the owner and manager of the board) along the way. The problem was actually the opposite, he didn't change things enough and there was not enough moderation where every Tom, Dick, Harry, Ghostrider and Mongoose were posting non-sense all damn day long and every single day. The site became counter productive and people started leaving. Steve does not mtn. bike and he originally created the site for fun as a concept and not for profit. He basically didn't care one way or another and hence why the site went downhill. Mind you, he did this before MTBR and Ridemonkey. I don't see any parallels here and I believe you're completely over reacting and are out of line. Sorry, just being honest.

This entitlement attitude is pretty funny. This site is FREE. George and the mods put in their time to maintain and improve this site for FREE. Last time I checked there was no subscription cost or fee for posting in the marketplace. So what exactly gives any of us the right to bitch or complain? I guess we could, but if it were that bad, then why not just leave?

Gotta agree with you there Joe.Tom,Dick Harry Mongoose,Ghostrider and Crazyrider are the only ones who post there now!The place is a graveyard and has been for 2+years.I'm surprised it's still up.(Just noted the "thanks button is back!) - Lloyd
