Let's trade paychecks for a year. Then you can't complain when you don't get the next rebate.

No, seriously!

I've said it at least two or three times. I would MUCH RATHER make more than $75k a year and NOT get the rebate. Unfortunately I don't.

Anyone hiring for a 100k/year job?

my beef is with how the government is handling our economy right now. you do know that by printing more money to hand out to you guys, they are weakening the dollar, therefore driving oil prices up, therefore prolonging the recession.

also, this will do nothing to stimulate the economy. most people are paying bills with this check, not consuming new stuff. the government is basically lowering your standard of living by printing more money and sending that money directly to big banks because that is one more extra payment you can make to them. its a feel good program because your average joe gets to feel this "free" money for a few seconds before he sends the check in to a bank.

The State of CA has agreed *this time* to not include this rebate check as taxable income for 2008. Normally they do - the theory is the Fed's came down pretty hard on CA in order to get people to *spend* their checks.

Our country has been mortgaged LONG before this so-called econ-stimulas package. One thing for sure, you'll see an increase in profits at domestic breweries.

Yes, but our gas prices are through the roof. Somehow I feel like I'm being taxed in the ass that way. Not sure how the gas taxes work here. I was just in phoenix for work and the cost of gas was atleast 50 cents cheaper a gallon.

No, you got screwed all year and the government has tossed a few bucks on the nightstand before they left the motel room.
