Default STR picnic/bbq, who is down?!?!?!

Its about that time again, CalEpic and I were talking about this and I thought I would throw it up here for discussion.

Lets try to figure out the following:

1) Date
2) Location
3) Will we need permits?
4) Potential raffle donations?

The sooner we can get things out in the open for discussion, the sooner we can start planning this. I don't know whats up with race schedules and stuff, so all I'm good for is getting this thing off the ground...

Thanks for getting this going Bret.

Here's a few bad dates I hope the BBQ can schedule around.

I know the Traverse is May 17th.
Rumor that Bikes and Beers is May 18th.

12hours of Temecula is June 14th.

Maybe combine it with OMR's vintage ride 6/28? But I don't know if there's any where to BBQ around Fully Loop.

Another bad date: May 31-June 1 (Fontana Cal State Series races)

i'm down. i never got the whole story but recall something funky with irvine for the oaks demo day ride a month or so back but could be a deecnt place and has ample room for a "larger" event and in close proximity to Oaks and Peters (for the noobs).

maybe add swapmeet to the event???

If you were saying Irvine Regional Park I was thinking the same thing. Lots of room we had a family reunion there and that was over 100 people and plenty of room.

An organised ride (ie: rsvping) was one major factor for the permit issue, retail advertising and also money exchanging hands were other reasons to have a permit.

The permit for Irvine Regional can happen but it does get kinda expensive. Adrenalines issue came up at the last min, both insurance companies could not agree on who would take liabulity(sp) after the permit had alreay been approved.

Someone should call the park and ask if an bbq raffle could take place without pulling a permit, but still reserving the group area?

on the other hand - I kinda liked the idea of Milf park last year, parking could be an issue though.

My vote is for Big Bear (Snow Summit). Real Mtbing with trails for everyone, no permit issues. The newbies can take the lift up and ride the ridgeline fireroads. They have group discounts for lift passes.

bb would most rock but hmm, who do we know that has a cabin up there so we can all crash (no pun intended) after a long day of riding and post ride celebration
