It's an easy job and one that you won't have to do often if you use gooderer grease, such as Finish Line Teflon, etc...
One thing to know: when you refill the cleaned bearings, don't put more than 50% of the air volume in grease, ie don't "pack it as full as will fit". The extra grease will pack up and build hydraulic resistance within the bearing. More isn't always better, and the bearings aren't designed to be stuffed.

I just switched from an FSA crankset to Shimano XT. For starters, the Shimano was a lot easier to install. if you actually follow the FSA instructions, you have to buy retaining compound and threadlocker. they're a bitch to remove and the outer cap gets stripped really easily. 162 is a great price for XT if chainreactioncycles still has 'em.
