I was running Stans and had a problem with the Blue Groove, but I loved the tire. I had the Nevegal too, but it was to small 2.1 I switched to a WTB Moto Raptor 2.4 front and a Schwalbe Albert 2.35 rear and running both at 30 pounds makes for an awesome tire combo. This combo might not be the cheapest or the lightest, but it is one of the best. Another very good front tire is the Schwalbe Big Betty. I've still got that on one of my bikes and it's a very good tire. 880 grams for a true 2.4 (looks a lot bigger), and a little expensive 70 to 80 bucks, but I think it's worth it.
I've also liked and had good luck with a lot of Maxxis tires. Larsen TT, Minion (sp) Mobsters, and High Rollers are all good tires. The Maxxis tires do run on the heavy side though and the xc versions (which are a lot lighter) don't hold up as long. About one season of riding. Tires can be difficult though. What one person might like another might not. Good luck.

I know I'm a noob and all, but F*CK tires are expensive!!!! I didn't even realize that you could pay $50 for a MTB tire. Damn! I'm used to tires being like $10 or less. That's crazy to me. I've looked at tires before but since I just got a new bike I ignored the prices until now. Dude.

I just thought I'd chime ine You may now return to your thread.

Im running my BG tubeless with Stans. No problems at, just takes time to seal up. Since your already using your tires with tubes, that should help it mount and seal faster.

Ask fxrob, he's the Stans master.

Kenda website recommends not to use it, and I agree. Premature tire wear. It might have just been the ones we had,but the tires started to desinegrate after about 4 or 5 months.

I would imagine that with a UST tire and UST rims, you could just use slime if you were worried, and just forget about the Stan's all together.

Non UST, we bought them at the bike expo last year. We only paid like 12 bucks for them.

Keep in mind though, that a $50 car tire is a budget tire meant for normal driving, and isn't something you'd put on a sports car or an offroad vehicle.. Our bikes are more equivlent to off-road speed demons like trophy trucks that race baja, which use far more expensive tires

You want the performance, you have to pay for it most of the time..

Anyway, more on topic: I current am running a 2.7 maxxis high roller UST up front and a 2.5 minion DHR UST in the back, both 42a compound. Love them, though as others have said, soft rubber == short life. Seems that about 4 months is the lifespan of a soft compound rear tire, though the front does alot better.

I like my UST rims and tires, but I still run some stans goop in them for punchure protection.. No problems at all.

I've considered trying the nevegal/bluegroove combo, but hadn't considered them seriously as I wanted to stay UST, and wasn't aware they made UST versions.. I will have to take another look.

My HighRoller is Stanitized, and I've had Z E R O problems with it, I run about 40 psi and it bites really good. I'm a little sketchy on trying any more KENDA'S after Rob and Craig have both torn knobs/slit sidewalls with the non-UST Nevegals on the back.

The HighRoller hooked up really good on Trabuco and withstood the punishment I put it through when descending over the wide variety of terrain that is found on that trail. If I were you, I'd give that tire a shot.

Yeah DINO, how much do you weigh and what kind of bike do you ride!!! What trails in the area do you ride?? Are you a smooth or aggresive rider, huh??

I switched my Nevegal to a UST after cutting a sidewall being Stanitized. Anyone know if the UST Nev is DTC or Stickee, the thing is wearing super fast.

Maxxis High Roller rear & Minion front is a good combo.

I also run the BG/Nevegal on my RFX and they hook up great.

Von Skip, I forgot to ask you, how many ounces of cytomax do you keep in your camelbak bladder? That could affect the handling and your decision on whether or not to get a HighRoller.
