I'm not sure if anyone has been to Aliso lately, but I have seen some trail volunteers helping people out and riding around. I haven't ever seen them there before. I thought it would be pretty fun because you get to ride the trails and stuff. Anyone know how you can sign up to do it? I need the community service hours for school.
Thanks, Jason |

I am a Trail Assistance Volunteer (TVA) with SHARE and it well worth the time. It does get you into the park a bit more (for riding) and gets "the word" out on trail advocacy, SHARE, and helps out with the overall park conditions by reporting issue areas back to the land manager. The best part is helping out others be it maintenance, directions/maps , water/food and first aid. As part of the TVA program you will get training in basic bike maintenance trail tricks (though most are fully capable of fixing most anything), first aid/CPR etc.
There are other TVA programs for other OC parks as well. As the park grows in visitors the need for such a program is a real plus for the park. I live right near the park Canyon Vista entrance and my neighbor has never been to Aliso Woods! I ran into him on the trails with his boys the other day, gave a quick tour of Wood Canyon, Coyote and Dripping Cave. Heck, the Mom who wanted to take her daughter and dog down StairSteps cause she "heard it was a quick way to Laguna Canyon" was a real good one. Note - we are not out there to say what is wrong or what is right, only to help out park visitors no matter who they are. We are not an enforcement or a tool of the county, just a couple of SHARE members who want to help others out. Remember to come out to the Aliso Wilderness RMP Open House at Soka Univ. on Feb 21st @ 5:30pm (open doors) / 6:30pm (agenda begins). boboso

boboso, do you guys have SHARE Trail Volunteer jersey's that you wear when you are out on the dirt? I recall seeing a guy and a lady wearing something that would resemble a Trail Volunteer jersey when we were there a couple weeks back. That is too funny about the lady who wanted to take her daughter and dog down Stair-Steps!!! LOL
