Default Cougar Sighting

So I was riding Brown Mountain yesterday and I saw a Cougar cub on the fire road that looked lost, I heard it making some sorta of cry. Which to me meant, "great mommy is around here somewhere", probably looking for the cub. Anyhow it was kinda cool to see the cub but made me a bit nervous, I was a pretty good distance from it, but once it saw me it stood still before taking off back up the mountain disappearing behind dense brush.

So this was on the climb up to the first saddle? What time of day did you see the cub? I'm probably going to ride Brown Mtn/El P tomorrow, and I sure don't want to see the mommy mtn lion!!

Thanks for the heads-up.

Damn, i hope that lion decides to move up into the back country cause with all these sightings in such a popular part of the park something is bound to happen...and then we all know what follows...panic, news stories, "removal" of the cat, etc...

I saw the cat yesterday around 5:30pm, about 2/3rds of the way up to the first saddle.

This morning I saw some kind of large cat while driving up the paved road to Chantry Flats. I'm thinking (and hoping!) it was "only" a bobcat. As it sauntered across the road quickly and disappeared, I was unable to get a photo.
