The demo Edison was a bunch of fun out at Keyesville. I ended up getting a large Supershuttle frameset after I got a chance to ride the demo that Mic sent back with me.

What a generous and thoughtful offer, thanks! I've been looking for an opportunity to do a ride up in the OC sometime soon, and you've just given me even more motivation...

The spirit and generosity of the people on this forum never ceases to amaze me...I'm so glad that I found this place.

I really like the design of the dual crown fork on the Bionicon's. It makes total sense for them to place the crown of the fork forward of the head tube. I bet it really helps with turning on tight switchbacks vs Specialized's OEM dual crown or any dual crown fork on the market.

I would love to see something like this built for a 29er...

Nice bike BTW....

Did you get the standard or the 170mm Freeride fork on that? What about the rest of the build?

Sorry bout that, so here goes

Standard fork with the optional rebound cartridge (I don't believe that the 170 TA fork is available yet). Other specs are as follows:

Swapped the bionicon bar with an Answer protaper 2" rise 685mm wide. Wheels are DT swiss 240s hubs laced to DT ex5.1d rims with alloy nipples and supercomp spokes. SRAM PG980 11-34 cassette, SRAM PC-971 chain, Tru-vativ stylo crankset, with bashguard, Crank bros. acid pedals, Magura Louise FR Brakes w/dangerboy levers 180mm rotors, X-9 rear der., XT front der., X-9 shifters, Thomson elite seatpost (410mm), WTB shadow V stealth saddle, Maxxis Larsen TT 2.35 rear tire, Maxxis Advantage 2.4 up front, and Oury lock-on grips. The whole package ended up weighing in at about 32lbs. I'll post a picture if I get around to taking one sometime soon.

It should be at Switchback Cyclery for a couple of days as a couple of my co-workers might take it for a spin.

Unlike the Golden Willow which is a traditional Horst link design, the Supershuttle is a standard high forward single-pivot design much like it's bigger brother the Ironwood, or a Heckler, Superlight, Bullit, Morewood, Orange, etc...Travel wise it's pushing 160mm rear travel and 150mm up front courtesy of the the DA fork. I haven't had much ride time on it yet just a few hours, but I'll get more this weekend.

When I win the Lotto, I would like to buy / build a wheelset like that, with DT Swiss 240's and the DT Swiss 5.1s on Dt Swiss 2.0 1.8 2.0 spokes and brass nipples. I'm down to about 210-215 now, so I think the 240S would handle my weight under non racing /hammering conditions. Or find a set like you have for sale used on Craiglist. Weight of the wheelset? Are you around 1700 gr with that setup?

I'd like to feel how that dampening cartridge feels in the forks, I'm running the same 150mm's on my XL Edison.

What happened to the Conti racing rubber like your ran at Keyesville?

Where can you demo a Scandium? H & M in Burbank? They had one at Keyesville Classic, don't know if it was a Medium or a Large. About 26 pounds, as I recall, loaded build with all top notch components.

The 240s hubs will easily support you (great, reliable hub) and on that rim you can run alloy nips, just get the wheels built by somebody who knows their Sh*t. My wheelset is conservatively 1800gr +or-.

The fork feels pretty good without the damping cartridge, but it really comes alive with it...smooth and plush.

The conti mountainkings aren't really appropriate for everyday riding around these parts, that and they get torn up really quickly...you saw what the rear tire looked like after short-track and XC race at Keyesville. They are light, they just don't last very long. That being the case I switched out to my old reliable Larsen TT rear tire (it works well for me in just about everything) and the Advantage up front (high volume, tight tread pattern, hooks up quite well in sand and loose). It's not the lightest tire combo but it's reliable, I'll save the Mountainkings for appropriate situations.

I've met Mic and the guys from Bionicon a couple of times. I'm thinking about getting an Edison. It's such a versatile bike.

Not sure where. But I am guessing that if I called Bionicon and told Mic or Paul that I was interested in possibly purchasing one from them, I'd like to think that they'd find a way for me to demo one.

You are right about that....these boys will personally deliver it to Switchback and you can go enjoy it for a few days...we have a Golden Willow you can demo at the shop right now.

piranha is a Foes4lifer too, rides w/ OTB on a sweet FXR Gruppo Shimano loaded with the goodies almost all XTR. I actually saw a Scandium once earlier this year at a shop in Burbank, pretty close to Brand and DeBelle /Verdugos, or La Tuna Single track... dunno if it was a demo or what, it was being assembled. Sweet looking ride!
