On the way home from the gf's house at 1am tonight, I ran into a sobriety check point. Once I told the first officer that my ID was in my laptop bag in the trunk, he sent me to the side where the inspection people where.
So the 2nd officer walks up and I tell him about my ID so he has me walk to the trunk to get it, and asked if I'd been drinking. I open the trunk to get the ID and the first thing he does is shine the light on my Yeti and goes - "those are nice components, what kind of bike is that?" So then we talked a bit about biking, turns out he has a stumpy and rides chino hills a lot. I even showed him the socaltrailriders sticker on the side of the car and told him he should log on if he ever needed riding partners. Oh . . . on the way to the girlfriend's house I was driving behind an Accord which had a SocalTrailRiders.org sticker above the passenger side tail light. Anyone know who that is? ![]()

Speaking of cops and Chino Hills... Thursday I went with a friend to Chino Hills for a night ride (not legal, but I've never had a problem before...). We started at the Carbon Canyon end and went up North Ridge and across and down Raptor Ridge. As we passed the ranger station we noticed several trucks there, but no sign of activity. We went further on the main road and ran into a ranger in a truck, I guess coming back from dinner or something. He put on his red light and asked if we knew that the park was closed after dark
. I said we were on our way out and he let us off with a warning. The only problem was we were about 10 miles from our cars. So we decided to head back in stealth mode under the full moon. It included climbing Raptor Ridge singletrack in the moonlight. The ride turned into a 4 hour odyssey, but was really fun. I definitely recommend moonlight riding!
