Yeti. Turner. Niner.
![]() |
My main ride is a Yeti 575 26er (duh), my SS is a 26er and my freeride/DH bike is a 26er. I still like 26ers a lot, but 29ers are better I think. All the so called negative things I heard about 29ers before I had one don't really seem to be an issue with me.
That being said, if 29er "technology" (i.e.--suspension and component support) keeps growing more and more, when the time comes to replace my current rigs, I will likely replace them with 29ers.

I'm no pro but I have to agree with pacman the 29'ers that I've had handled really well especially my current ride.
As for the question, I still have a 26'er FS that I ride...but I wouldn't mind having a 29'er FS though ![]()

the one I've ridden was really nice, significantly stiffer than the reba... just put a F29 100mm on my bike last night, haven't ridden it yet.

To the original question, I just parted out and sold my 26" full suspension bike since I got my Niner Air 9.
My next full suspension bike will be a 29er. For my riding, I don't see any need to go back to 26" wheels. YMMV.

To the originaly point: don't throw your 26ers away just yet. As Justin pointed out above, the fork technology is not there yet... it will be since 29ers are not just a passing phase. I have and enjoy riding both ... my next FS will probably be another 29er replacing my beloved Intense 5.5. Bikes are like kids: sometimes you think you have too many, sometimes you know you don't have enough...

The one issue I had is I wanted a T/A front hub on a 100mm fork. Not easy to find, but Manitou does fill the need. If Fox had a T/A F29, that's what I'd be running.

I'd rather be climbing...
|
I can't imagine getting rid of either one of my bikes. I love the versatility of having a steel SS fully rigid 29er & an aluminum FS geared 26er.
Each bike is fun in its own way, and I'm sure that each bike's fun factor isn't solely determined by the size of the tire...

well, i'm down to one single speed and i kept the 26er and sold the 29er. so, yes, I still do ride/own a 26er, but as soon as $$$ permits, I'm going to likely build a ti 29er ss.
OMR- where ya been?

Doing the 29er thing
|
The reason I'm asking is I have been thinking of building/buying a 29er. I only have one bike now not looking for two
I'm looking for a XC ride 1X9My guess is I could use some of my parts that I have on my Yeti and sell off what I can't use would this be the cheaper way to go? I would like to have my CK hubs built into 29er wheels here is what I'm working with Thanks for the input Guys/Gals ![]() |

It took awhile for me to grow into my Niner RIP. At first I wasn't 100% convinced, but now I can't recall the last time I rode my Superlight that's 3 lb lighter, Oct maybe? I'm gettting near the limits of the staple Reba and looking for a TA fork to bump up a level.
