Amen! This is so true. The last few crashes I have had I realized I was so busy thinking about HOW I was riding that I wasn't paying attention to WHAT I was riding.

I like to give myself words of encouragement like "Feel the flow, you're doing great, stay off brake, you look HOT" etc. Then I find myself on the dirt wondering what the heck just happened.

i dunno about the mind wandering... hahaha... but i do like the escape. helps me relax and get my mind refreshed along with my body.
