Ouch...that's never fun! It's even LESS fun when you pop a spoke or two in the process. Been there, done that!

Maybe I should buy that frame then, how easy is it to hide a green frame from the wife? I can use all the help I can get climbing up the hills. Let see I'm 5'6" and if I ride a 29er will that be like wearing elevator shoes

[quote=hobie;242942]just curious. i am not going to get a new bike, but i am just trying to get educated.

my bike is a hardtail cannondale F5co2

i have read in magazines that 28lbs is considered heavy. so it makes me wonder what is so heavy? the frame? wheels? how much lighter could it be?

28 Lbs may be a tad heavy for most for a HT but I ride an Enduro that's 32.5 lbs. I consider 28 to be light. The wheels and the fork could be upgraded to give the biggest weight savings. Depends on what kind of riding you do as to whether it's worth spending a ton of money.

I also find the Nevs hook up well on the terrain around SoCal. Tires can make a huge difference and can be the difference between your rear wheel spinning out on that steep section or cleaning it with style.

Ya, but BMI is an outdated joke. According to BMI, LaDainian Tomlinson is morbidly obese. It doesn't take muscle into account at all.
