El Moro Trail Assitance Volunteers Needed

Crystal Cove State Park is now recruiting 10 mountain bikers to serve as Trail Assistance Volunteers. There are currently 15 active TAV's in the park but the program has room for 25.

Duties included patrolling the park via bike to render assitance to those in need with directions, water, minor mechanical repairs, or help in seeking medical attention. TAV's also report problems in the back country to the ranger on duty. In the past this has included things like lost pets, campers leaving trash on the trails, homeless encampements, broken gates etc.

Please be aware that TAV's do not enforce the park rules but may at times educate park users about not bringing dogs into the park, not smoking, etc. On one occasion I had to remind a park user that it was not acceptable to shoot golf balls off of BFI down into Moro Canyon.

Your committment would be one patrol a month (3-4 hours) on a weekend day.
