Default Warrior's Society Toad Festival

Just a reminder to everyone that the Toad Festival benefiting Autism is scheduled for Saturday June 7th....

It is now only going to be a Fun Ride with no race included due to lack of racer sign-ups....which allows us to open it up to more that are not interested in racing and just want a fun ride!!

This is a fun event and includes a easy family ride section too this year!

There is a raffle at the end of the event to help raise money for Talk About Curing Autism...and all the proceeds will be donated to them.

Sign up at www.warriorssociety.org ....at this point there are about 100 spots still open!!!!

Our (Singletrack Angel and me) 5-year old son was diagnosed with high functioning autism so TACA is our favorite charity and would really love to see a big turnout.

I know all the STR folks are fun-loving people so don't miss out on this ride. Not only is it alot of fun but you get to ride some spectacular trails and benefit a worth charity at the same time.

And if that wasn't enough last year there was also an amazing amount of raffle giveaways and schwag. Last year two frames, American Airlines tickets for two to anywhere in the US, an XTR wheelset, 7 pairs of XTR pedals, XTR cogsets, etc were raffled off to just name a few of the big ticket items.

You do not want to miss this one!

Thank you for the information. Do spaces usually last for this event? I would love to ride but can't sign up just yet.

Talking Attention grasshoppers....

This is the ride I wait all year for ... I don't know if I I have more fun doing it ... or working it. The route itself is not particularly hard... just a challenge for most... up Holy Jim across Paine Divide, up the Wall (ouch)... then down Trabuco (fun fun fun!)... and of course there are the games stations at various spots along the way, darts, helmet toss, card, etc, etc... my high point is the root beer floats at the top of Trabuco... or is it Horse Thief (don't remember). Capped off with a hot lunch and a raffle back at O'Neil.

This is one that you really don't want to miss... if not for the fun factor, then think of the kids you'll be helping by supporting this event.

The next 10 people that sign up will be personally thanked by the President (not saying which one)

Personally I am glad this is now only a fun ride...as it was always meant to be!

And OMR - the root beer floats are at the top of West Horse Thief and they are incredible!

The great thing about this event is that there is a short and long route to accomdate all riders. And the short route is alot of fun too! And you get equal chances at the schwag!

Oh.....come out and do the fun ride. You had planned on riding it anyway. We just didn't have the interest in the race that we thought we would.

It will be fun.....and the raffle/auction prizes are pretty damn nice.

i dont doubt that it will be fun, but i gave up not racing doing a race in santa barbara to plan for toad race... so if the event has changed, then i'd like to do something different..
warriors put on great events, but at the same time, i enjoy the chance to go race/ride someplace different, too. and, the santa barbara crew always put on great events...

Never taken part on a Warriors Society event since I don't race but this looks like is worth the drive, is there a limited number of participants so I have to signup asap? I will like to promote with my riding buds and get a group of us.

I already signed up - and I'm trying to get some of my friends to join me as well.

How fast of a rider do you have to be to get to the checkpoints in a timely fashion? They're a bit nervous about the "cutoff" times.

Since this is not a race but a ride, the cutoff times are pretty relaxed. Actually, as I remember, there is really only one cutoff time at the top of Lower Holy Jim. I think you'll have approx + 3 hours to make it from O'Neil to the top of Lower Holy Jim.

Remember it's a fun ride....

Haha...yes, I know it's just a fun ride - but for my friends who don't normally ride longer routes like this, they're a little concerned they might lag behind and not be able to partake in the games and festivities.

There are NO cutoffs for the Toad Festival....if you hit the game stop at the top of Holy Jim and feel like you can't go any further you might want to just head back down Holy Jim and back to O'neil (or you might be recommended to by event volunteers)....the ride usually leaves at 8:00 and the raffle is after every last rider gets back! And there is always plenty of food...so no worries on how long the ride takes you!

All participants get to do the games along the way....even if you can't finish the event in full we let you do the games in the parking lot at the end.

Don't forget to look for the plastic toads along the trail they give you extra points for the game!

Looks like the event will sell out this year so you may want to sign up sooner rather then waiting too long.

The shorter fun ride is great for family and kids...we had several younger kids and new riders out there last year experiencing the wonderful trails in O'neil and Tijeras creek area....

Look forward to seeing you all out there!
