Okay, so I really need a bike stand I am getting tired of hanging my seat off ledges to work on my bikes. Looking for some good options not too expensive. I know Park Tool makes a few but what are you using and do you like it? What options should I consider?
Thank you Jordan

I have a WrenchForce work stand. It's about the same as the basic Park Consumer Stand, but the height is adjustable. I've found that to be a critical feature and would not want to purchase another stand that didn't have adjustable height.
It also turns out that a bicycle work stand is great for holding tubing in place during welding and general metal fabrication. ![]()

I have the Ultimate BRS-50R and it works great for everything I do. There are better stands out there, but they aren't worth the money for what I need.
I clean my bikes and do all repairs on the stand. I've found it a bit unsteady when I am really wrenching on things like a stuck pedal or over-tightened crank, but I don't know of any stands that would stand up to those forces unless they were anchored in the ground.

I made this workstand with about $50 worth of parts from Lowe's, and it works like a champ. If you're interested I'll post a full writeup of the build. It won't take you any more than 15 minutes to put it together once you get the parts.

Another vote for the Ultimate, have had mine for many years and I love it. The tripod stand is nice and stable and it folds up very compactly if you need to get it out of the way or take it somewhere.

Don't laugh, but I've been happy with the Sette workstand I picked up from Pricepoint. It's worked great for 2+ years, holds my 40+ lb bikes without problem and folds up neatly for road trips. Factor in the price and you have a winner.

For that price you're looking at used stuff, DIY, or cheap/oddball.
If you decide to shell out for the better work stand, you'll be glad you did! I've gotten a TON of use out of mine. I've had it for at least five years and it's still going strong. Still, any work stand is way better than NO work stand.

I have the PCS-4 and it looks like they upgraded the legs so it doesnt tip as easy. Great stand but a weighted base would be nice.

If you have the room to do so, I use one of these
Pedros ROCK dual head stand (it is bolted to the floor in the garage) ![]() and an older version of one of these Park Deluxe stand (mine is not height adjustable) and have had it for oooooh, 8yrs now ![]() I will be acquiring one of these two to be tossed in the truck when I start up racing again and for road trips Pedros Folding stand ![]() or the Park PRS-15 ![]()

BeantownRider, I'm with you on the Sette workstand. I've had it for about 4 months now and it's been great. Got it around Christmas when it was only about $80. It is my first workstand, so I can't compare it to anything, but it seems like it is a pretty good purchase for that price range.

Tried this one at Performance today and worked really well.
http://www.amazon.com/Spin-Doctor-Pr.../dp/B0011VQ1T6 Same price as Amazon. Height adjustable, solid base, not too heavy, foldable, can spin to hold just about any bar, small place for nuts and bolts on the top. Prob walk with this one soon.

I've had a few of those stands listed, and the Pedros (IMO) folding stand is the best, not the cheapest, but the best. I've been using it for 2 years not treating it kindly, and it works great....

+1 for the low-end Park. I've had an older version of the PCS-9 for probably 12 years now. It still gets a lot of use.
Here's a link to their workstand page: http://www.parktool.com/products/category.asp?cat=23 The PCS-9 can be found online for $79, the PCS-10 for about $129, and the PCS-4 (breaks down completely and fits into a bag - great for racing) for about $189.

If you're an REI member you can get the Ultimate Sport Mechanic Repair Stand for $159 plus a 20% discount. Ship it to the store and you can save the shipping costs as well. Should run about $140 out the door.

I have a Park PRS-9 that I bought online(eBay I think) for $89 shipped and I use it as a rack as well as a work stand....I don't see the need to spend a ton of $$$ on a stand unless you NEED some speciality attachment
