You still are, and that's just a ridiculous statement. I do frequent "most" PRO photography forums and I feel it's just the opposite. Guys trying to defend their $8,000 bodies when the $5,000 body from Nikon is clearly better (for now anyway)

The D3 is a beast and on paper it has features no other camera can touch right now. In real life though I havent been as overwhelmed with the results from other people I know using Nikon. The 1Ds MII produces some of the best images I have ever seen shy of getting into Medium Format cameras, etc...
The guys I work closely with, that use the D3 are producing images that surpass even the best medium format cameras right now (minus the scanning backs, which are obviously no good for any kind of action) And you are right, it has features no other camera can touch. This is especially true for weddings, which is what I shoot. Oh, and of course action, at 11fps full frame, yep that would be nice.

I thought about switching to Nikon once and bought a body and lens this was a while back. The camera was great but when it came time for me to do my normal research and find out how dealing with their PRO services was going to go I was amused. The Canon CPS program is leaps and bounds ahead of the Nikon Pro department. That to me is invaluable. CPS has saved me on several occasions on shoots around the country forgetting to bring gear and sending me out what I need overnight, no charge. Getting my gear cleaned for me overnight, no charge. Things like that are what keeps me with Canon cameras. Nikon just didnt offer anything in comparison.
This my friend, is bologna... PERIOD. You were obviously never part of NPS. It is in "fact" at least as good as the Canon CPS, all the way around and that's all there is to it. AGAIN, I have both... use both, know both... both are great, one IS better "for now". I'm curious when you say you bought a nikon body and lens as to WHICH it was and who you dealt with at NPS?

Like I said, I have a 1D Mk II, and compared to the D2x it's a BRICK in the ergo department, and the menus are archaic to say the least.

And, funny as it is, I happened to run into Shu about 20 minutes ago at Samys. I just wanted to check it out and fondle a D300 to check out the new menus. Walked in, and what do I see but a pair of D3 bodies sitting on the shelf. After a few short minutes of deliberation with the wife and sales guy.... well I'll be posting some D3 samples when I get back from my 2 weeks on the north shore in Kauai. We'll see if I can overwhelm you with the DR and IQ of the images

See ya round...

ISO
White Balance mode
Metering mode
Focusing mode
Shooting mode
Drive mode
AF Point
Image storage mode
battery indicator
Shots remaining

This is all on a single screen, no menus necessary to look at them. BTW, if you want to check out my camera, I can bring it to a ride. It's often just sitting in my car anyways.

Can't recall which camera he was talking about, but he mentioned that one of them required going into a number of menus to check settings, and was not very intuitive to use.

I might have to take you up on the demo if I ever do a non-night ride with you.... are you bringing that camera to Moab?

he was refering to the fact you must look at the main lcd to check settings on the higer end stuff there is a seperate screen on top to see on the fly settings it is alot faster when the screen is on top with a dedicated button like 35mm have. I have trouble when I use someones rebel trying to quickly adjust settings but maybe they do have dedicated buttons?

Of course I'll be bringing the camera to Moab.

I don't see how the LCD makes the difference in adjusting settings. The main difference between the more higher end stuff is that they have two adjustment wheels. The Rebel only has one, and it adjusts different things depending on mode. The other things have a dedicated button (usually a directional button) that brings up a small menu to make a choice.

the top lcd does make a difference i promise it is way easier for on the fly stuff and the two wheels helps alot also when your shotting 1000 pics at an event little things like not having to flip the camera over makes a difference for the average guy ???

The K10D has two dials, and it has a dedicated raw button which you can program to either switch from raw to Jpg, or jpg to raw+jpg.
