we'll i did it. went down to the path today and picked up a kona unit 2-9. it's my first 29er and first single speed. i went in there to look at the 29er hei-hei and left with the unit 2-9. swapped out the rigid fork for a reba sl and i have some juicy 5's here that i throw on it to replace the bb5's. maiden voyage is at el moro tomorrow. i can't wait. sorry no pics yet, the wife is gone and i don't know what she did with the camera.
big thanks to sid, tani and the guys at the path for hooking me up. sid took his time with me and was very, very helpful. i've never bought a bike there before and now i probably won't buy one anywhere else from now on. j sims and jordansrealm, it was nice to meet you guys. this time last year i didn't even own a bike, now i have 4, a road bike, trail bike, xc bike and now a single speed. when and where are the meetings, i need help!!!

I have the same bike. You are going to love it. Currently mine is setup geared, but that's one thing I love about that frame is I can easily run it either way.
Coming from a 26er hard tail I was amazed how smooth and springy it rides. Then I get used to it and go back to my FS and I'm amazed how smooth THAT bike rides. Please give a ride report tomorrow. |

Congrats Chris. We'll have to brake you in on SS properly. I know the exact route too.

took it down to el moro this morning. i have a new found respect for ss. went in at ridge park down to the main parking lot, through the canyon and up i think i can. very tough. i only rode about an hour, but it kicked my ass. but i did have a blast. the bike handled great and the 29 inch wheels were smooth. i'm definitly hooked.
