Introducing "The VooDoo Doctor"!!!!!!

Man, long time no post....perhaps even months...Sorry about that STR, but things have just been really, ridiculously busy!

So short-story long, STR O.G. vato Lance (ECOdork) has FINALLY finished his dissertation/Ph.D.!
That's right, I'm expecting everyone to refer to me as Doc Fontaine, or VooDoo Doc, or equivalent from now on! or not ....

Back in Jan. I defended my dissertation back in TX. It all went well and I even got to go eat BBQ and shoot pistols at a TX ranch with my advisor the day after! And a week or two ago, I turned that mo'fo in to the library....that's the last step between me and graduation (in May).

AND, in other news, Lance is gonna be a DADDY!
That's right, it seems as though ECOdork may have successfully reproduced!
For those other STR vato's with child, I ask for HELP!!!! WTF am I supposed to do now!?!? It's still pretty early, but assuming all goes well, in Nov we'll be welcoming a new STR member! Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaay WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???

In riding news, it's been raining enough to close the trails, but I'm getting out some. I finally fixed both frames! I've got a new 2008 Rocky Mountain ETSX 70 full susser with a 2008 Fox Talas 32 up front (100 - 120 - 140 mm) and a Fox float 5" with ProPedal in rear. I "had" to get Avid Juicy Seven Brakes b/c of the new fork.

Bottom-line on that bike is that you know it's lineage as an ETSX, but it's MUCH more confidence insipring than earlier models....I even catch air occasionally! Plus, I'm still loving the VooDoo 29er SS. These two bikes really are the ying/yang of each other. Each is tons of fun!
One embraces technology, the other snubs it's nose at technology!

I've got a wedding to go to in June/July in Santa Monica, CA. I'm hoping to work some time in to ride with STR!!! I'll post/pm back if I can pull this off.

I know I have a tendency to get all sappy in my posts, but I really miss all youz guyz, STR, the SoCal trails, SoCal weather, Wahoo's, etc....

Hope STR and SoCal are doing well!!!

Lance - Huge congrat's to you and Eve on the baby and to you for finishing up the hard work on your education. You guys will be great parents but if you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to get in touch.

I will be highly offended if you come back out this way and don't schedule a ride with the OG STR members.

I watched the video of your farewell ride the other day and it still brings a tear to my eye. Good times.

Since you guys are 3 hours behind, Clinky, Laddy, and BanannaSeat just may get late night (for me) phone calls begging for help/advice on what to do with a kid!

OCrider, yeah, that isn't far from here. We could certainly meet up to ride in Boone, Asheville, Tsali, etc.

It's a beautiful morning out here, so I'm gonna hit the trails before the rains return! Ah, but which bike to ride??? ...it's a good problem to have!

I'll keep ya'll posted on those summer plans. Ideally we can get a ride in, but at the very least we can get together, eat fish tacos, and drink beers!

Be sure the wife understands SHE will be the one who attends to the child when he/she wakes at 1, 2:30, 3:45, etc etc etc to be fed and/or changed.

Other then that just enjoy the little bugger. Just remember you will not truly be a father until the little one anoints you with a golden shower in public.

Oh yeah, one more thing, if you are a breast man be sure to have the Mrs breast feed for as long as possible
