So my friend the other day was like ya lets go bike and i am down. He took me to a trail behind jpl that i wasnt all that impressed with. we had to get off the bikes very frequently to cross the big stream and the trail was not far at all. where the picknik tables were we didnt go up the steep switchbacks to far before turning around.
anyone know the trail i am talking about? i am looking for a trail that is def a beginner trail but has a nice easy climb to it with some harder sections maybe. hopefully something where you can stay on your bike for a good extended period of time to get more of a work out. anyone got any good ideas? i live in la canada by the way so the closer the better. any thing come to mind up angelest crest?

Sounds like you tried to go up the Gabrielino. Next time stay on the fire road that hangs to the right, follow it up a far as you can go. Thats Lower Brown Mountain. It will connect to a fun trail, El Prieto, via another fire road. Get a map from REI or Sport Chalet. You can only learn by doing it so go for it!
