yeah it's good. i saw the tin benders avatar, your name and put 2 and 2 together. i used to go on pirate all the time when i had my rock crawlers. couple of scouts a k5 and my last one was a k30 that i used to take to the hammers. i beat the hell out of that thing getting it through there. like a square peg in a round hole. sold it, and got a zj with a 4 inch lift and arb in front. it's perfect for big bear.

but now instead of building up crawlers, it's mtn bikes. welcome to str.

if your ever down this way we'll have to go riding.

Then wear a liner. It also helps keep the sweat out of your eyes.

good group of vehicles. i love K5s. the hammers are my home and i dont know if you u know yet, but the marines are about to take it all back its a very sad day in the world of rockcrawling and in my life.

i still have crawler to compete with but i sold my tow rigs and RV's. i will prolly sell the buggy when i hear that the hammers are gone for good. MTB and hiking are way cheaper sports, so i am doing those instead.

I use one of these under my helmet:

Works great and keeps sweat from my eyes in most situations.

At first when I started, I just rode around with platforms and vans, then I bought some super stiff mountain bike shoes and now I hate riding without stiff shoes. It just feels so much better, and it's a whole lot more efficient.

I like riding with full finger moto gloves, They don't really get that hot, and they give me a lot of grip. Plus it gives you more protection in a fall than open finger gloves.

check pricepoint.com,nashbar.com,and performancebike.com for some good deals on riding crap. spend more on shorts and shoes, gloves and tires, and look for deals on helmets, tubes, shirts, pedals and bottles as their price increases their quality doesnt really get all that much better. good luck and hope to see ya out there!

okay, so now we have some new stuff. bell helmet, gerber multi tool, pearl izumi riding socks, pearl izumi mtb shoes, cannondale mtb shorts, navaro water bottle.

i also dropped the bike off at REI for warranty work. the fork seals blew the first day i bought it 6 weeks ago. my bike came with the rock shock 100mm dart 3.

instead of replacing it. they gave me a 150 credit and i put it towards this fork instead.

marzocchi mx pro

its a nice upgrade for the bike but not overdoing it. it was just another 150. now i am ready for the this saturday!

Ahhh some fellow P4x4 members!

Total bummer about Hammers, we were hoping to squeeze some H1's through it.

BTW, MTB shorts are next on my list also. Ive ridden in board shorts and basketball shorts but need to upgrade.

now that is something i would like to see. i have yet to see an H1 attempt a hammer trail.

my club (tinbenders) is holding a jambo in april at the hammers. if you have some H1 guys who want a tour of the hammers, i will be happy to show you guys around that weekend.

I have never heard of a H1 going through but I know some guys who would love to try.

When is your Jambo in April? We are having a huge Hummer gathering in Pismo Beach April 18-20 so that weekends out.

I will pass the word on to my friends at http://h1psychosquad.com/

its the 25th weekend. so its the next weekend.

http://tinbenders.org/hosted_events.php

thats the sign up page. we usually get about 1000 people and a few hundred rigs out on the lake bed its pretty nuts.

the full sizes that do hammer trails dont really have bodies anymore, lol.

i am a hammer local/expert, so if your buddies want to try some stuff out, i will help them. obviously they cant do most of the trails out there mainly because of the sheer size of the H1, but i know some of the easy ones that we could at least try and see how it goes. if they want to do it, do it now before we lose the place. should be fun!
