So I'm sitting there on a bench in Aliso Woods contemplating the meaning of life, looking at the surroundin beauty with shades of green reminding me of Ireland, when I happen to notice that the bench I'm sitting on is right next to some lovely, lovely green plants. Then it strikes me just what plants these are ... the kind that many newbies when they first start riding ask what does this look like??? With the amount of rain that we've had, the poison oak is blooming everywhere.... andf if you don't know what to look for, you may be taking a trip to the pharmacy looking for ANYTHING that will relieve the itch and burn...
We all have stories to tell! Head's up Tribe, For those of you that don't know this is what it looks like when blooming in the spring and summer... try to stay out of it ![]()

I am one of the lucky ones, I am immune to it and poison ivy.I literally slept in a patch of poison oak when I was in the corps with no effect. Everybody else was not so lucky.

I think if I'm in the same State as it I'll itch from it ...
I might be hypersensitive because I had it really bad a few years back.

Ya I steer clear of it.I did not intentionally lay in a bed of it, it was dark and we were in a tactical no light situation.

I have not had a bad case since I was a kid, but I still stay away from it. I skipped the El Prieto section of our ride today because it was getting a little to thick on Sunset and I knew EP would be worse.
That stuff is EVIL... Dean

There is an old guy that grooms El Prieto. I've seen him out there in dirty coveralls and work gloves pulling out the P.O. by the roots. I always thank him but the task seems never ending. He's usually down by the first (from the top) large culvert. Give him some props if you see him.

Yep the poison oak is out all over the place. Luckily I am fairly imune to the stuff. I was talking to a few of the guys at the lbs and they said they eat the baby poison oak leaves once and awhile and it makes them inmune to it. Has anyone ever tried this, doesn't sound like a good idea?

+1 on that. I've gotten hit with it 4 times--each rash worse than the previous one. Had to go to the doc and get put on steroids the last 2 times to make it go away.
Which would explain why I'm so "yoked" now. ![]() ![]()
