Huh?

So now that I am living in irvine now for college I get to try out some of the best trails around. This time I did a ride with dukethenuke and intensekipper. We met at aliso around 8 and headed our way to Cholla trail. What a climb cholla trail was. It just kept on going up and up! Soon we got to the top and heading down Rock It. A pretty fun DH trail, really rocky. And that was pretty much it for the day. A good 10 mi ride was the fix I needed. Anyways, here are some shots. (if you two want the full size image let me know)
1. It was a long road ride... 2. Start of cholla 3. dukethenuke heading down to rock it |

(by the way... so you know what were talking about, Rob changed the oil in my Talas and changed to 5weight from stock) I also put on the chain on myself (sram powerlink) and now my 2 low gears in the rear skip under pressure when I climb. *Is this cuz the chain is broken in or??? Fun ride today...! |

As for the chain, you did make it longer than the old chain right? It sounds like maybe it has a stiff link in it. Go along the chain and bend each link both ways to make sure they are all loose. Otherwise it may just need some slight adjusting of the shifter cable. |

As for the chain I got the SRAM powerlink. The powerlink thing is wayy cool! I took out 1 link and then connected it. You think I should take out another link. I messed with the cable adjusters on the ride and couldn't figure it out. |

Yeah the chain is probably actually too long if you only took 1 link out. You need to take the chain off and route it around the big ring in front, and big gear in back without going through the rear der. Where the chain meets, then add 2 links and that is how long the chain should be.
If you feel like you are plowing through the travel (which is a characteristic of the early Talas models) then try adding a few psi. This is going to hurt the small bump sensitivity some unfortunately. If you aren't bottoming out now, then just only add a few psi at a time until it feels like you've got a balance between small bump sensitivity and not plowing through the travel. |
