Default Delta 7 Sports have you heard about them?

Quote:
The Arantix will be unveiled at Interbike Sept 26-28, 2007. Look for complete details coming in October.

The IsoTruss® frame uses an open lattice carbon fiber structural design concept that was originally developed at BYU under the direction of Prof. David W. Jensen, Director of the Center for Advanced Structural Composites™. Center for Advanced Structural Composites™. Tyler Evans, who s pearheaded the project at the Center for Advanced Structural Composites™ at BYU, has been hired by Delta 7 Sports as Program Manager to develop the new frame which will go into production early next year. “The Arantix is an entirely new composite format that creates a whole new set of rules and possibilities in bicycle design; It’s lighter, stiffer, and less vulnerable to damage than other forms of carbon fiber,” said Tyler Evans.

The Arantix addresses a need in the market by aiding and fulfilling a cyclist's ultimate goal; to have the lightest and most durable piece equipment without sacrificing performance. The IsoTruss® frame is very efficient for mountain biking and is estimated to weigh 2.75 pounds. The Arantix is manufactured from high-grade aerospace carbon fiber materials that are stronger than carbon fibers used in many other carbon fiber bicycle frames.

Delta 7 Sports has partnered with ClosedMold Composites® to develop all of the non-IsoTruss® frame components such as carbon frame lugs and aluminum dropouts. ClosedMold Composites’ founder Ron Nelson invented, designed, and patented Trek®’s highly successful OCLV® carbon bike frames and manufacturing process. “When Delta 7 Sports approached us and introduced this truly unique composite technology to our company, we immediately got excited about designing another bicycle frame. There has never been anything like it in the cycling industry,” said Ron Nelson.

So bizarre the lattice work on the frame 2.75 lbs!!!!

Amazing, we were talking about doing the same thing just a few weeks ago. We thought something with a honeycomb pattern might work better. I'd have to see the lattice up close.

I wonder why a ht?

Interesting concept. I wonder if the joints flex in noticeably odd ways. A test ride is in order if they ever get any dealers.

the lattice work is so organic it kind of reminds me of something you would see Geiger incorporate into his paintings

I wonder what the cost would be for such an intricate carbon design. The only people that would use it would be the factory teams anyway. Wouldn't they be worried about wind drag for all that open trusswork?

For starters, I believe it's a bicycle. Secondly, it's damn fugly! Thirdly, it's a carbon fiber & Kevlar spider web design. Frame weighs 2.75 lbs. I saw a while back on MTBR during the Interbike coverage but I could be wrong.

Edit: It's called an Arantix made by Delta 7 sports.
"The first bicycle to feature the patented IsoTruss carbon fiber and Kevlar spider web-like open lattice tube design, the unique Arantix frame offers an unparalleled strength to weight ratio"
