I've done it, but it has been quite awhile. Definitely not in shape enough to do it now, but getting back there. Big Bend looks really tough, never tried it. Boat Canyon is a beeyotch too.

Where is Big Bend? Is that on the other side going up to Morro? I have never seen or been on it, but now I would like to check it.

Yes, it's the fireroad that goes straight up the ridge directly across the road from the bottom of Telonics.

I cleaned it the only time I tried. I wish I could clean Telonics though. That takes a lot more skill than I'll ever have.

For Canyon Acres we usually climb that single track to the left of the road that starts about 50 yards past the bottom gate at the end of the cul-de-sac. It lasts about 50-70 yards before it joins back up with the road. Last week we skipped it since someone put branches across it. No closed signs, just lots of branches. If you include that single track climb, there is only one other pretty hard climb to the Top of the World. I think its the second climb. I have yet to make either.

Hey, that is boba's list!

Big Bend is the super toughie, I only know one person that's nailed it (chirs from french). I tried once, hmmm, will have to try it again, it's probably in good climbing shape right now. I've cleaned CA on my big bike quite a few times (no stops or dabs) but it is pretty brutal. Another really tough one, maybe close to impossible is up BVD in El Moro. The last time I tried the conditions were really good, but my heart rate went through the roof twice and I had to stop. I remember my lower back hurt after that for a week!

That list is really cool, but the point values seem really random. Meadows gets 10 points and Lynx 20?
Cholla 3 points and Mathis only 4?

Sounds like an absolute ball buster day.

Part of the ride is planning, remember no points if you dab. Lynx becomes very loose in the middle of summer, Meadows holds up much better.

Who would be at each climb to monitor these climbs?

Honor system...I was hoping Adam would jump in as he does it each year. Me...I am in my beach chair that time of the year or on a MTB road trip...high elevation where it is cool.

This sounds like something that should get pulled together into an organized event. With little score cards like in golf. We can do handicaps based on gearing.

Nice! I remember that list. that was from V-Lander's Summer Solstice Day of Pain (SSDoP). He also organized the Massochist Hill Climb Challenge. Getting ready for those really got me into shape. Some really good riders turned out for those rides.

Default Been There, Done That!

My first experience with Canyon Acres was on the "Epic" 40 mile docent led ride last year. OMR, Wrecker, and Jamr were there (Adam led the ride) and it was a tough climb after logging 28 to 30 miles up to that point. I cleaned it, no record time though.

The second time was on Maxwells PushaKona ride a few months ago, cleaned it then too! I also came really close to cleaning Big Bend. I made the first 3 sections no problem, it was the forth section that I couldn't make. I was 2/3rds of the way up and it got loose and I got tired. I think I got the farthest out of everyone in our group.

I like to climb hills, at 235lbs. it's not too easy, but I love the challenge!
