Default Whats a HighRoller semi-slick??

Just kidding but that is the answer I got when I called 5 local shops and every shop asked me back, "What tire is that? Never heard of it."

HUH???!!!

Well, one shop said he could get it next day and sure enough A tire showed up, it WAS a HR but not semi slick.

So I ask you people, does anyone have a new 2.35 High Roller Semi-slick they would sell or know of a shop with a good rep that has the HR semi-slicks in stock?

QBP is out of them and it looks as though BTI does not even carry them.

Crazy looking tire. Have you tried ordering directly from Maxxis?

Most shops give a better price then what Maxxis sells their tires for so I was hopping to find an LBS that had some otherwise I will order some on-line

Cheers

I did not see the tires on the Adrenaline site so I went with Cambria since I knew they had them in stock and will be here today.

I live just down the road a bit from Maxxis. I too can get them quickly but that doesn't help you!

Too funny. I own a pair, but I only use them once a year at the Wildflower Triathlon mountain bike course. There is some mountain biking, but I use that term very loosely. Imagine 10 miles, with most of it on asphalt or hardpack. They require use of a tire with knobbies, so I roll with those semi's. They rock at WF, but suck for everywhere else I ride.

hey reflux, what is WF? i assume it is a trail?

i think for tires, i want a slick set and mountain set... i feel like those diamonds in the middle would be super slick if i rode them around the block... they look alittle small?

Oops, WF is a HUGE triathlon located on the Central Coast. If you know where San Luis Obispo is, head north for about 45 minutes until you hit Lake San Antonio.

They're very small. I'd be hard-pressed to ride them on anything other than a leasurely ride bike paths or mild fireroads. If you're looking for a set of tires to ride on asphalt, I would opt for slick tires and not mess with semi-slicks.

yea, but those tires do look interesting... don't want to move away from main thread point... i will have to make a new post with my tire questions later... i am not at the tire part yet for my build...

omg! hahaha, look at what i found... this tire looks like it is very similar...2.0 width, and a whole lot cheaper?

just wanted to share... not sure about quality... as i have not used it... just felt worth to mention...

Ahh go ahead and hijack the thread, no worries. I already have the tires.

The Maxxis work great on hardpack, rock (think RockyPeak/Chumash when dry)and on the street (where I tote my kids around) to get to the trails.

I like the Maxxis better then the Forte because the side knobs do a much better job when leaning into a turn. I have run them for years but only on trails I know they will work and only on the rear for the most part. If I do not know what to expect i will toss on my NXB or run regular HighRollers front and rear.

I understood what you meant, I have used Forte tires though when I was doing A LOT of road miles on my mtb and had very little cash, they did the job I needed them to.

I've been riding the Maxxis Oriflamme on the rear and I love it. I might have to try this slick with bigger side knobs. I would have to say it is probably sweet...
