Found out today that I have the flu... and I thought I was immune from this sort of thing! I've been hoping it was just a cold... but got the fever and chills today... quick run to the doctor and then the pharmacy....$105.00 later I have the latest in Flu fighting medicine... suppose to knock it out in 3-4 days... which means I may not be riding sweep at VQ on Sat.... I'm bummed!

However, I will think positive thoughts and will be there to cheer you guys on!

I'm doing echinacea tea a few times a day to stave off any bug that may be floating around.

I have 2 words for you.... Airborn and Zicam... Double the suggested doses has pulled my out many times while on a Bus trip... Other then that SLEEP and oh yeah fresh Juice.

Greg, that sucks getting sick so close to VQ.

I had two bouts of the flu this season. Robitussin, Coricidan, and lots of OJ and sleep, still took me 3-4 days to get over it. I'll send some healing vibes your way.

I swear, I caught this thing back in mid December, and I'm just starting to get over it...
I used most of the goodie ever the counter stuff.
About a month ago it felt like it was letting up, started to finally feel better, then 2 days later...WHAMMO!!!

Flu shot!.... Flu shot.... I don't need no stinken flu shot..... besides, every time I've done the flu shot I come down with a mild casde of the flu. I get one cold every 1-2 years and the flu every 10-15 years.

You should have gone to the doc right away. They say that if you catch it within 24-48 hrs of the first sign of the flu, the prescription medicine will knock it out usually within 4-5 days. That's what I'm hoping!

I don't like to get butt-kicked so as soon as flu shots are offered I'm in line. Haven't been sick in years, 10+?

The flu shot is a great idea for people that are susceptible, immunosuppressed, or come in contact with those people.

However, the health department merely guesses at which version of the flu will dominate and that's the type they put into the shot. Unfortunately, the flu is a crafty little virus, changes quickly and has lots of cousins that are different enough for our immune system to be fooled, even after having the flu shot.

So, even the flu shot doesn't save you from getting the flu....just what is thought to be the worst versions of the year.

That being said--get well soon!!! REST (that means in bed, no riding, I'm sure you got the same lecture that I had), DRINK LOTS of fluids, chicken noodle soup, yadda yadda yadda. I'll be looking for you on Saturday

i feel your pain OMR. i had to drop out of the CC on the 14th (very bummed). i had a nasty flu that had me in bed for 3 days straight in late january. it then developed into bronchitis and carried into february and the cough still lingers. this kept me off the bike for almost a month straight. when i asked the dr. about what he thought about me participating in the CC (after describing the details of the event) he basically laughed at me and said "you do want to get better dont'cha? so, that pretty much sealed my fate for this years CC.
