This is how desperate I was this weekend, wife and I were driving by Nellie Gail and I thought that would be really cool to make their equestrian trail a bike riding loop. But then I thought, man the horse people might yell at you...but how cool would that be to be able to make a decent loop out of that?
Anyone done this before? |

I am open to exploration... When do you want to check it out?? I am thinking lights and a night ride so as not to run into horses... We could park at the parking lot at Rancho Niguel and head out from there. I know there is a trail right behind there that rolls between the houses and some of the parks in the area

I ride my Iron "Horse" on horse trails all the time and I never get yelled at or get strange Compton/Watts kind of looks and that is WITH hucking off side berms, hauling azz, etc. Now, if you showed up on a Turner someone needs to bring a body bag.

Nellie Gail is a private community of very wealthy people, and they definitely DON'T want bikes on their private, horse-specific trails. Not worth the trouble, frankly.

Find out if those trails are easements or public trails...there are trail systems all over my neighborhood and bikes are allowed...yeh some horsie people don't like it but if it's open to the public then too bad for them (and yes I am a horsie person). Public means public!
If like someone above said it's a private community...too bad..then look out for the po po! Check into it and let us know....knowing that area a little I would say you would get some great interval training in !!! |

my high school XC running team got yelled at for running on them. There owned by the Nellie Gail Home Owners association. So ya there private no bikes allowed. Me and my brother got busted by some rich equstrians for shooting pellot guns on the horse trail when we younger. The same neibors that busted me soued a guy for riding a motorcycle on the trails. Not that many ppl use them I've been riding my bike on them since I was like 7.

Doesn't sound like it would be a fun place to ride after all...I don't wanna ride worrying about getting yelled out!!! I guess that is why they pay the big bucks with the association.....I hate associations! I lived in a place where I wasn't "allowed" to leave my garage door open..even if I was working on my bike in the garage and watching my kid ride in the alley...then they didn't like my kid riding his bike in the alley...I MOVED!
