Thumbs up Local young grasshopper makes good!
This reporter has recently learned that our very own OCRider (Matt) has been offered an MTB scholarship to a college in Kentucky. He'll be part of the MTB team... in other words, he's going to be getting faster than he is now! They'll pay for everything but his books!

Wow! Why didn't they have this type of thing when I went to school!

Now if Matt can just remember where this school is.... (JK) Major congrats to Matt for making the best with his love of mountain biking!

This should be a lesson to all of the young riders on this site, stay in school, get good grades, ride hard and make it work for you in the long run!! Way to go Matt, you are setting a great example for a lot of younger riders. NOT TO MENTION MAKING A LOT OF OLD RIDERS REALLY JEALOUS!! CONGRATS!!!

I am very proud of you Matt...I know you live to ride and now you can ride to live! I look forward to seeing how far you can go with all the support you will recieve there....don't forget us !!! Now I can say "i remember him when......" Learn as much as you can while your there...this is an incredible opportunity not offered to just anyone!!!

I am so HAPPY for you Matt. You are VERY deserving of that scholarship and such a model young ambassador of our sport. I will be sad to see you go though.

Maybe Chris will let you set up a Kentucky chapter of The Warriors Society?

theres about 5-10 schools giving out scholerships now and I'm sure in a few years there will be more. Many colleges are making cycling a varsity sport!(used to be a club sport) Ft. Lewis college is giving out the most... I got an offer from them and from Union(Kentucky). When your doing College apps just look up the collegiate national mtb results and contact the schools with good results.

It was great to ride with you again yesterday Matt. Congrats to you bro. I know how passionate you are about riding. Very deserving indeed. You'll have to let us know how the trails are out there. Remember, I work for an airline and fly free , so I would love to come out and visit. You said something about leaving in July? We'll have to get together for a STR going away ride for ocrider! BTW, nice new rig too.
