Alright, then I will pray for 90 degree temps down there so that the area dries quickly. I hope this works out. How soon will we be able to find out when the park opens. If it is by Wednesday and the park is still closed I am open to doing another ride, as long as it is not too far (1hr 45 min or so) from my house.

I will try to keep checking and updating this post. If anyone has any other options they are willing to do let me know. Fully loop? or like RockintheCasbah said, the Oaks (not sure where that is though.)

Keep me informed about what you guys decide. You could always set up a chino hills ride for a Saturday morning, get a good number of people out there.

Call on Wednesday and ask when they think it will be open. It is supposed to be around 75°F for the rest of the week, so that might be enough. Some of the shady singletracks might be soggy for a week or more. I honestly wouldn't bet on riding CHSP until this weekend at the earliest.

I have a feeling that CHSP is gonna be closed until the weekend. I was planning to ride Sycamore Canyon (Riverside) on Thurs morning & I would be willing to lead a newb friendly ride at around 9:30 a.m.

The meeting area for Sycamore Canyon is in the BofA parking on the corner of Central and Canyon Crest in Riverside.......

I'll hang out in the parking area till 9:40ish before starting my ride.

Okay, since it sounds like CHSP has no shot of being open, my friends and I are down to do Sycamore Canyon with you Osmarandsara. We will be at the BofA parking lot around 9:30 am on thursday. Thanks for volunteering to lead.

If anyone else wants to join, I would really like to meet you guys. Thanks

-At the end of the ST, turn left and climb up the fire road (called Pomona Trail on hardcopy maps).
-Climb up this fire road and over the hill. Stay to the right or and follow the fire road over the ridge and down. At the bottom of the saddle, turn right onto East Fenceline trail. If you get to a locked gate on the fire road, you missed East Fenceline.
-Follow East Fenceline across one fire road.
-East Fenceline ends at The Longway Around fire road. Climb up to the top of this trail and you will get to McLean Overlook. Great views from up here.
-After McLean, backtrack down the fire road all the way down to Bane Canyon Road. Note: Corral Trail is NOT newb friendly, so don't go this way.

-Turn left onto Bane Canyon Road and ride it to the end where the road becomes paved. Follow the paved road all the way around to the ranger station.
-Go all the way to the back of the ranger station and take the fire road in to Sidewinder Trail (about 1/2 mile). Sidewinder is a single track on your right.
-Climb sidewinder all the way up to Bane Ridge. Enjoy the hike-a-bike and exposure.
-Turn right onto Bane Ridge and run this single track all the way to the equestrian center (about 2 miles).
-At the equestrian center, head out to the paved road, turn left, and follow the paved road/fire road all the way out of the park.

This route will be about 9 or 10 miles. There are many other routes and with a map you should be able to find your way around.

DITO on Brewmasters descriptions. I was all stoked to post info, but he beat me to it. This is a good route and will be a fun one. I've riden just about all the trails in the East Side. Well worth the drive.

The only option I would add would be to do Upper Aliso instead of Bane Ridge after you climb up Sidewinder towards the end of brewmaster's route. Upper Aliso going North to South is probably more Newbie friendly than Bane Ridge depending on the courage of the newbies. There is a small hike-a-bike at the beginning of Upper Aliso, but the it turns to fun single track and fire roads back into the Ranger Station.

Also there is a Bike shop off of the 60 fwy and Mountain Ave called Incycle. They have good maps there. Check www.incycle.com for times.
Also the park does close for 48 hours after it rains. Seeing as it is dry now and assuming it stays this way, you should be alright to right on Thursday.

Directions to the trailhead are as follows:
15 S to 60 W
60 W to 71 S
71 S exit Soquel Canyon
Left on Soquel Canyon
Right on Elinvar
Park at the top of the hill, this is where the Park entrance is.

Have fun. If I wasn't working, I'd join you.

Default Fyi...

Okay, just called CHSP and the recording said that the park SHOULD possibly be open by tomorrow. But with all the interest in the sycamore canyon ride, I don't want to flake.

BTW: Recording said Bain Canyon is currently under construction.

I have already talked to my friends and we have agreed to ride CHSP next Tuesday.

Itenerary:
My friends and I can be down there by 9:30. From there it is where the wind or ride leader takes us. I know there was a lot of interest so I hope Tuesday will work.

Sorry guys but all my friends and I work weekends for another month or so. Any help is appreciated.

Default Sycamore canyon

RockintheCasbah: Yup, we'll be there for sycamore canyon. We all can't wait to ride something other than barren wasteland in the High Desert. The guy that bought your Iron Horse loves the bike btw. He has ridden w/ me everyday since he bought it. Added about 60 miles to it so far. He'll be at Sycamore for sure and most likely CHSP on Tues.
