Default Yeah!

My CO2 was bought at performance I don't like it. I need a good one, I'll talk to Duc.
I was playing with the cartridge in the car the other day and it blew up on me. I didn't want my mom to know so I stuffed it in my pocket. Yes it is very cold...
Guess my mom will find out soon.

If you go with CO2...don't leave it in your car during a hot day.

check this thread out...

CO2 in a hot car leads to.......

I ride with a hand pump.

If you're worried about space, then you should think about getting a crank bros mini pump. Those things are about the same size as a CO2 pump, and not very expensive, with one of those you won't have to worry about CO2 cartridges exploding or leaking, plus you won't have to buy refills.

Hand pump for normal rides.
CO2 for XC races
Willie and I both have the crank brothers mini pump and we love them. It is also a shock pump.
It is light and solid.

This is what I use and like it a lot. Works as both a CO2 pump and a manual hand pump in a fairly small package. Uses threadless cartridges which can be had for about $0.50 each.

The CO2 clumps up the Stans almost instantly. If you have UST or tubeless with Stans the Topeak Mtn Morph pump is your friend.

Most be an East Coast thing. I'll have to tell my Stan's to clump next time.

In all seriousness, the times I've used gas with UST its because of a major puncture during a ride. I've lost a lot the Stan's anyhow and removed the tire to patch it. Gas it up and get riding! When I get home I add more Stan's and use a floor pump.

Latex polymer is stabilized in an aqueous solution (soap) that bonds the latex particles with water. Without the solution latex would be a white powder. The pH of this solution is typically between 9.0-11.0
The addition of gaseous C02 into the solution lowers the pH to around 6.0. This destabilizes the aqueous solution which causes the latex to shear coagulate.

Personally I have 3 of the old Mammoth mountain pumps. I can inflate an MTB tire in under a minute. Never needed to spend money to do it any faster.

Default How about a little test?

Since a finishing nail punctured my rear tire Monday and I lost some Stan's waiting for the puncture to seal after I pulled the nail out and since I have the week off (AND IT FREAKIN RAINED MOST OF TIME)....

Adding some new Stan's:

Filling the tire with my 100% reliable cheapy Performance CO2 inflator:

After turning the wheel several times and waiting about a half hour.

LOOK, MA! NO COTTAGE CHEESE!

My cheap Performance CO2 inflator is different than your's has a red on switch and it's hit and miss when it comes to inflating. My mom returned my first one and this second one is just as bad.

I noticed it also annoyed Mtnbikerfred once.

There's nothing wrong with using a good ole' reliable hand pump, plus you can find one thats just as small as a CO2 inflater.

I usually buy my 16g CO2 at Nashbar when it's on sale. Right now a 6 pack is $10. Since I only have to use one 16g instead of 1.5 12g cartridges it works out to be relatively cheap. The shipping kinda kills the deal, so I normally try to combine it with a "regular" order. Just a small premium over Walmart and you get a better product.
