Default Opinions on rock shox revelation 426??

Hey all, looking to upgrade a fork....
looking for 130-140mm travel, and being able to limit the travel down for climbing.

I saw that the 426 revelation comes in 3 varieties.
coil / u turn (85-130)
dual air (130)
air u turn (100-130)

I am leaning toward the AIR u turn, as airforks are more adjustable, and i tend to be a bit heavier than most forks are designed for... (6'3" 225lbs)

Anyone have reviews of this fork? I would go with a pike, but i just bought a new wheelset that is QR and the pike is a ThruAxle....

If you have this fork, do you like it?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the Revelation is just a QR version of the Pike, so many of the Pike reviews may apply, except for the stiff thru-axle part..

I'll tell you this if it helps, I have always had Rock Shox air forks and have never had issues. Right now I have a Reba U-Turn (85-115) with Poploc on the bar and it's phenomenal. I never have to turn it down due to the lockout.

What are you pairing the 426 fork with for a bike?

thought the Pike is a bigger fork but could be wrong. I have the rev 100-130 u turn air. It's ok. I like the adjustability...never use the lockout (thought i would). I've def had some issues with the fork (and heard others have as well...but mines a few years old now so they may have fixed issue) but been too lazy to send back to RS. basically sticks a bit (never goes back to full). played around with LBS in regard to pos and neg air but never really fixed issue. I'm a bit lighter 160-170 depending on how much beer i drank that week but suits me well enough (aside from stiction). travel does run fairly smooth

I really like my air u-turn. I haven't had any problems yet and I've had it two years. I'm about 185 and I ride pretty hard on it. What wheelset did you get? I know that there are a few hubs that you can swap the axle out like the Hope Pro IIs, so you may be able to get that thru-axle. At 225 you'll notice the difference.

Here's the MTBR review page for '07 Revelation 426's:
http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/2007_for...t_128162.shtml

12 reviews and a 4.75/5 rating isn't too bad.

Here's the '08 link:
http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/2008_for...t_130237.shtml

Only 4 reviews but a 5/5 rating!!

I have no personal experience with that fork, but those reviews look pretty good. Rock Shox has really stepped their game up the last couple years. My personal belief system is: go with Fox if you have the money. If you can't afford Fox, go Rock Shox.

I'm 210 and I try to avoid air suspension, it tends to wallow under that weight. Just my 2 cents. I used to ride mx so I guess I'm kind of biased. Either will work though. Happy choosing!

FWIW, I'm 225 lbs and have no problem with air forks. I didn't have any problems with them when I was at 270 lbs either.
