What about carrying Co2 cannisters in your Camelbak on a REALLY hot day?

Just so you know those Big Air canisters aren't CO2, they're butane.

I never had a problem with a good old blackburn pump, but the butane explains why these aren't as much fun as using cans of Whipped Cream to blow off a hot air......

Oops my bad. 40g Innovations are not butane.

They're Propane. That's so much better.

Yes, for bike pack style camping. More versatile than a swiss army knife and more flammable than a debate about politics, religion and sometimes trailwork.....

Dang - if a C02 canister can do that kind of damage, I don't even wanna think about what a 12-pack of Uncrustables could do if they blew. Talk about deadly!

Default A great trick.... co2 rocket!!!!(please be carefull)

Years ago, while working at the now gone Performance Brea on a slow shop day in January, I was trying to come up with a way to direct, and launch a 12 gram co2 cartridge. After many prototypes, I finally did it. Here's the ingredients:

One workstand (the heavier, the better)
One Park tool headset cup removal tool (prong type)
Pedal wrench
Black tape
Several zip ties
One 12g co2 cartridge
One small finishing nail
One 3/32 ball bearing

I first start off by taking the cartridge, and the ball bearing, and taping the ball bearing directly over the opening to the cartridge with black tape. Once it is taped, hit the cartridge upside down on a workbench two to three times, untill there is a good size dent on the cartridge.

Once this is done, take the headset cup removal tool, and zip tie the prongs closed with two or so zip ties. This is the going to be the barrell. Seal the remaining slits by wraping black tape all the way down the barrell, untill it is sealed. Set the barrell in the workstand, and point it at your desired target (a bike box for us...)

Now you are ready to prepare the cartridge for final propulsion! Take the finishing nail, and a five inch piece of black tape, and position the nail vertically over the dent that you made in the cartridge. It is easiest to affix one side of the tape on the cartridge, and then position the nail, and finish wraping the black tape to the other side.

Now for the fun!!!! Set the cartridge half way in the barrell, making sure that it is not pointed at anything or anyone, and that the clamp is very tight. Take your pedal wrench, and while standing beside the barrell, hit the cartridge back into the barrell as hard as you can!!!! The nail punctures the cartridge, and it will LAUNCH out of the end of the headset removal tool faster than you can belive. I have gotten these babies to launch over 100 feet!!!! Have fun everone, but be safe!!!!

I used to hold those delicious little sandwichs with such high regard and now STR has made me fear thier explosive potential.

We can only hope that this delicious recipe for desruction does not fall into the wrong hands.

Default Defrost and eat

Been lucky enough to avoid a CO2 blowout, never tried the burrito, but on the east coast we used to put a microwaveable snack pack (ie 7-11 ham and cheese) on the dashboard while we rode and it was pretty darn tasty when we got back in a few hours. Just a little history to help with this automobile nutrition program. Of course in winter we just started and ended our rides at the local pizza joint, still not sure if the greasy college town pizza was any better than the dashboard ham/cheese...I'll do some So-Cal testing and get back with results
